Default holden car care plan

A friend of nine bought a car the other day from a holden dealership then they tried to sell him the chrystal elements vehicle protection plan. This included sealing the paint job and never having to polish or wax the car again.
Treating the interior fabric of the car so that any liquid spilt cannot soak in the carpet and seats etc and dent and chip repairs covering the sides of the car but not the top.
They wanted like $1700 dollars,he said no thanks.
The question I want to ask is this paint work protection for real or another gimmick trying to rip people off?

i cant see how you would never have to wax or polish the car, when i bought mine it had paint, rust and interior treatment done, but the interior was pretty dirty and the paint needed a wax and polish badly

Sales gimmick. All of those treatments can be either done by yourself or arranged aftermarket alot cheaper. This is when you turn around and ask the sales person why their paint work and interior isn't up to scratch and why should you be paying to protect it? What do you mean my car might rust in 5 years? lol.......

Most dealers I have been to have a separate person who tries to sell you all of the aftermarket care stuff..... makes it a bit harder to go back to the sales rep about that if they've buggered off to sell another car before you hear about these products.

Your quite right Adam. They generally have little bits of fluff come over and try to up sell a range of after market products.

Better to give them a miss and shop around yourself later for after market stuff.

Just a high grade polish and scotchguard on the interior.

Buy it, with one condition

You want a signed document from the dealership saying the paint will stay in the current condition for ever, the interior never gets stained and there will never be any rust.

Then every time you want the car cleaned, or spill something inside, show them the letter and ask them how it happened - get it detailed to 'new' condition :P

Look at the fine print on the contract. Doesn't cover bird droppings or industrial fall-out and has to be re-applied every 12 months.

Bull$$$$! My mother bought a brand new 2006 Lancer from Parramatta Mitsubishi. They saw her coming a mile away. Even after I warned her she still got sucked into the paint protection for $550 and window tinting for $450. She'd have to be the most gulable person I know.

Top quality orbital sander: $150
Polishing and buffing pads: $80
Good quality wash, polish and sealant: $90
The satisfying feeling of knowing you did a job as good as any 'professional': PRICELESS!

Thanks for pointing that out.The things that are guaranteed to damage your paint like bird droppings and acid rain they won't cover.Bloody con artists if you ask me.
