Question Who to blame and what to do now??

***PICTURE DOWN THE BOTTOM (Post 7)***

Ok guys... Either I'm an idiot, OR there are some real arseholes out there (Both are true, but in this case its one or the other )

My Calais has this pretty big scrape along the side skirt on the passanger side, and it is VERY noticable

Anyway, I either did it when I parked outside my place, i parked a little too close (couldn't fit my finger inbetween the wheel and the gutter BUT didnt hit). As I said, I didnt hit, and I would have noticed the car on the gutter because I was standing there looking how close i was for about 5 minutes ALSO, I didnt notice the scrape until coming back from uni (In the morning I didnt see anything) So I'm thinking maybe it was someone in the car park?? I doubt it because its not dinted, but it does have a chunk taken out of it

Either way, I really want it fixed, because as I said its really noticable... Does anyone know how much it would be to buy a new side skirt?

Or should I just get it repaired and resprayed?

    Either way......

Ok... Called up my dad and asked him if he saw the car up against the gutter

He is 100% sure he didnt... Which means.... I was hit today in the car park at uni! Seems like an odd spot to be hit/damaged.... but I know now that it wasnt from the gutter (also checked the gutter for any scrape marks which would have been there, and there werent any)

So now i suppose the question is... How much would it be to repray ONE side skirt? (In that calais colour-look at pic below)

Edit: I tried to get the pic from my phone to the comp but it wouldnt work for some reason... anyway... Its a deep, black scrath going from about half the front door to half the back door (but only on the silver side skirt bit) Its really noticable and I'm not happy jan!

    But wait... There's more!!

Wouldn't be that expensive. Chances are you did it yourself, what's the point in throwing blame around?

I was hoping in the vacinity of $Free to $150

For now its how it is

I'll talk to one of my uncles friends who has his own spray/repair business and see what happends... such a pain in the but... But I'm really glad its only small.. and only on the skirt

I have no idea what could have caused it...

    But wait... There's more!!

my VH has more scratches, im just getting it resprayed soon, I hate it when people hit my car with their car doors. this f@<k head in a triton parked way too close and scratched my car i fealt like knocking his block off but there was security cameras , anyway by the looks of it you should just take the skirt off and respray it. the moral of this story is.......................................theres too many 4wd's in the cities.

Ive got 2 dints from people opening their doors into my car...

I try my best to park next to good cars or in the last spot, but no matter what some old rust bucket has to come and park 2 inches away for some reason Anyway, i have a thread on that as well haha money money money....

On closer inspection, the skirt actually looks a little dented as well (you cant see it from that picture) also the stratch is reasonably deep so I think I'd need to fill it in or something before spraying

Edit: ALSO... Anyone have any ideas what coloud have caused this?? I said in the original post it may have been the gutter, but it wasnt, I checked and checked again, I even measured and parked my car in the same spot and it wasnt that... But what could have hit so low?

Yeahh.. whatever it was i would have felt it if I had hit something...

If i go over a bump im like WTF was that, so i would have felt it haha

Then i thought... some punk scratched it... but why would they scratch it there? wouldnt they key the doors or break a window or whatever?

I hope i get it fixed pronto too.. I hate driving around with visable damage...

You must've went over something. Can you remember what?? I really can't think of anything would scrape that low.
Could be some shopping trolleys have those bumper thingy around the bottom if ya know what I mean. I'm talking about those steel Safeway/Coles trolleys. So someone must've went past your car with it!! Who knows.

Nahh couldnt be that either, never parked near a shopping center or anything.

The only thing I can think of is that the car park i was in today was gravel... so maybe a rock? But there are no rocks that big, and none that could make a scratch that long

Hmmm... No idea how it happend... strange.

Obviously wasnt done on purpose, or else they would have gone for the doors or something... Looks to low to be hit by a car... I didn't feel anything strange while driving.... hmm... dunno

From lookin at the pic all it needs is a light sand, then chuck some bog over the grooves, then sand it into shape....a bit of primer, then paint it. Maybe if u fixed it urself if u know how to use bog and shape it, then primer it and take it to a pro to get sprayed, would be waaay cheaper. U can get small cans of bog for under $10, same goes for a pressure can of primer.

thats scratch looks exactly like the scratch my mum put on her car. she did it when reversing out of our driveway, which has one side lined with large bush rocks (part of a retaining wall thingo). one of the smaller rocks that pokes out just a little bit put a decent scratch in the side skirt.
