    Default Ford vs Holden

    Hey there guys and girls....

Thought I would post up an intresting fact I was told by a panelbeater today.

Discussing having my new SS front bumper painted we were talking about the pricing of VY SS bumpers, somewhere between $320 to $380 depending on which dealer you go to.
Well I felt that was a little pricey, but now I am not so sure. (well I am just wrong)

He showed me an invoice from a Ford dealership for an BA XR6/XR8 front bumper, with 10% off the price was $1780.00+GST, OUCH that's bloody out there.
I gather there is nothing special about them as this panel beater said it was just a bit of plastic too.

Thought I would just share that piece of information with ya all.

Holden arn't that bad with there parts pricing I guess.

Damm that pricey, i could get a hole kit fitted n painted for under that easy i recon.

I cant work out how they would still be able to sell the genuine item at that price, unless they void ur warrenty for not using gen parts hahahaha.

Sumone would have a aftermarket one available, they could make a killing if there was.

A friend brought a AU XR6 (when it was new back in 2001) and the bodykit for that was optional, the dealer was going to charge $4000 for the kit installed, but he didn't get them.

Surely theres something else with the bar? Maybe spot lights included? aswell as crash bar etc.

PM minux as he has an XR, and should know weather theres anything other than just plastic that you get for that price.

I think its more a case of not wanting every BA XT owner running around with a mocked up XR front so they put the price up.
Insurance companies would know this and charge premiums accordingly to cover it but not just anyone could throw the best part of 2K at their front bar.
Not to mention needing headlights to do it aswell.

When i had a EF XR8, it cost the insurance company something like $1400 for a genuine front bar and that was only last year.

    Windsurfing.....
Might depend on the dealer as I saw one unpainted for $800. Also Ford mark their parts up to rediculous amounts. Like someone else said you can find a aftermarket bumper much cheaper or a good secondhand one.

its not just the dealer charging the price, some bars are more involved in making compaired to other bars thus possibly why more expensive.

hows this for another price, Mitsubishi Magna currnet models are at the $1300 mark ruffly with out all the reo and strengthing frame behind it.
$1300 is just for the plastic cover.
aftermarket bars are cheaper but they are not the best of quality and will not fit exactly like agenuine, the gaps might be always out and if you are picky get the genuine bars and panels.

now if you question why it cost so much to get your car fixed now you can under stand.

also yesterday i reed a quate for a genuine vz malloo front bar cover and it was $580 if i recall right
so prices vairy from diffrent models and companys
