hey guys im thinking about upgradin 2 a vq stato and i was just wondering how much life i can expect from a 5L with 300,000+ks?
cheers, nic
They can go to 500,000+. One guy I know had one that was still running fairly quick after 600,000ks they can also get tired after 400,000. But that's ok you can get it cheap and then save for a rebuilt motor. Then you wont have to worry about it for another 20 years
if its on gas i'd steer clear, found out the hard way![]()
We got rep back, yaaay!
Most 5.0 litres require new valves/v springs/stems and a clean up after 200,000.

300,000k's is a lot really, but like greenfoam said, get it but make sure u get it reasonably cheap due to the high k's. Then either rebuild it or find another motor with low k's and swap it over.
Just remember tho, it would mean the suspension and brakes could of done 300,00k's to, so they might be due for replacement.

yeah thats what i was thinking vhpire, its not just the motor thats done all the k's its the car to, its in really good nick though the interior is mint. ive heard the motors can last agez compared to the v6's.
i had an sv 124 with 395 000km was all right but when you gave it a bit it blow smoke it would be cheaper to find one with lower km
i dont know about them lasting longer then the v6, alot of people tend to rebuild the 5.0ltr at around the 200-250,000km, but it depends on how it has been treated if it has been serviced every 5000 odd kms and hasnt been thrashed, then its probably still good... maybe just find a lower km one as they are starting to go real cheap nowadays
