I would love to know as well!!

I take it you mean these?

I reckon if you cool your engine any amount, it'll be great!

The theory behind exhaust wrap is to keep the heat in, not to sheild other engine components although it does that. Keeping your exhaust as hot as possible allows it to flow better. Pipe that is cooler than the exhaust flowing through it will drag it and create restriction. Good on a performance engine that is used consistently in the higher rev range but not really noticeable in normal driving conditions. If you flog the crap out of your car you may feel a slight improvement but the negative effect it has on the actual part being wrapped isn't really worth the gain. By trapping the heat in the pipe will crystallize and crack prematurely.

using those heat wraps also usually voids any warranty on parts (whether it be extractors, etc..) too, so be carefull of that. ive seen some pretty ugly looking pipes before that had the heat wrap taken off them and you could see how they had started to be damaged and rusty in places.

Yes it will destroy them. Unless you had the money to replace headers every 12 months don't use it.

Thanks guys. Was just looking for a way to reduce the heat of the engine bay.

yeah, the heat wrap tend to rust out your headers real quick, get the HPC coating for your headers it works better and it reduces the under bonnet temps heaps
