well there is that pushbutton start thread, why not make one then hook it to a timer to start the car once a week or so for 15 minutes, then youd just have to figure a cutoff switch with that timer :P
nah I dunno chances are your valves and seals will dry out.
Remember to put it up on blocks so the tyres aren't compressed, get a car cover and you could look into fogging oil. I know that they use it on marine engines when not using them for a period of time.

Do you have the option of someone coming and starting it for you every week?
Otherwise I'll be disconnecting the battery and letting it sit on blocks with a car cover.
There isn't someone you could lend it to in your family to drive it around for you?
<davy> remember when braveheart came out and everyone said you can't have mel gibson playing a scottish guy cuz it wont be realistic?
<davy> well look at him now
<davy> an alcoholic racist
A car will typically need to be driven for several hours every 10 days or so to maintain the battery life. Simply starting it up or going for a ride around the block won't do a thing. My advise would be if you want to save your battery, I would get a a charger that allows the battery to be left on charge permanently, that way when you come back, your battery will be fine.
As for the oil, my cousin has a collector car and sometimes isn't driven for 2+ years. He once hadn't done an oil change in well over 2 years. The oil will be ok but if you feel the need, then change it.
If your garage is well sealed, then you won't have any problem with rats chewing your hoses off or birds crapping on your car.
thanks for all your advice guys. yes the car will be in a sealed garage out of the elements. as my parents and i are going away it will only be my grandparents left and no they are to old to drive a car. im not registering the car as it runs out a few days before i leave so why waste money if i aint gonna use it. i dont want people using my car as it is my pride and joy and wouldnt trust or leand it to anyone of my mates. keep the advice coming
cheers guys
