Hi,
I have a VZ SV6 Commodore, and one of the steering wheel controls buttons has broken/come off. I called Holden, and they seem to think that, as from the VY's, I have to replace the whole assembly. Is this true? Do the buttons just clip in, or are they replaceable?
If I do in fact need to replace the entire control unit, how do I go about doing so? I've read a few articles...
First disconnect the airbag fuse and connections. Then does the steering wheel cover just pop off? Then there are 4 tamperproof screws that need to be removed, before removing the airbag and accessing the screws to the controls. Correct?
Cheers for all your help.
Mike
Holden won't have the individual buttons unfortunately. You could try a wreckers but most places I think will only sell you the complete module. You could try explaining to them and seeing if they have any broken ones with the button you need intact.
I have a broken button in my VS too.
* Phreddy's Blaupunkt Aux input and line out mod
* 18x8 inch Equus Kalibur Wheels with Maxxis MAV-1 235/40R18
* Sureflo 3.5 inch medium-loud cat back exhaust
I was told that VX's can have a button kit purchased for them, but not the VY and VZ's. Apparently when a button breaks you have NO CHOICE, but to replace the whole module - because the buttons are actually molded to the whole module; not just clipped in...
