    Default Plenum Problems (ecotec)

im getting my injectors cleaned on tuesday so i pulled my plenum off today and was quite shocked from what i saw, i was told that it shouldnt get dirty in there at all,
when you touch it and look at your finger there is a smear of oil that smells like semy burnt fuel and oil

heres some pics could you please give some advice thanks

the 3rd and 4th pictures are the pcv housing and the valve, the last picture is the bend in the intake tube which looks like something has been sprayed back through

i dunno who told you it shouldnt get dirty, but they're full of it, lol.
thats normal mate, especially how the gunk is concentrated on cylinders 1 and 2. its just oil, fuel and other carbon thats been flicked up into the plenum.
give it a clean with some carby cleaner if you want to, keeping in mind it will end up like that again soon though....but dont stress, its normal.

hmm, im not going to say they lied, but that certainly is unlikely. ive NEVER seen a clean plenum chamber before when taking the top end apart.

do you know how much they are, i cleaned it up and the mechanism is working a hell of a lot better from when i pulled it out,

also the little earth wire that is attached to the front of the thermostat housing in the intake manifold is leaking i imagine they are only cheap wouldnt it

Do you use the K&N panel filter. These filters have oil in them to trap dirt and small particles that enter the filter. Looks like it had been oiled too much, because excess oil could enter the plenum chamber, but thats a possibility so I don't know if it really happened.

nah, definately isnt filter oil. when you see it up close you can tell its just bits of engine oil and even fuel thats flicked up out of the runners.
