Ignition Barrell - how do I get it out?

My igintion has died (VP)- how do I get the barrel out - I read the post about using a paper-clip in the small hole, but what do I do from there..it said it should just slide out, but nothing seemed to happen.

pretty sure the keys gotta be in a certain position, acc i think. so switch it(if you can) to say, acc, then stick paperclip in and pull, if it doesnt budge, try a different key position.

i had to grind mine off, so never had to remove one without damage

I don't know if this will help, but you can rip it off.. that's what someone did when they dried to steal my VQ, then i cable tied it back up.
