Default Would a dodgy battery cause this?

Ok, for a few weeks now, i've been having problems with my battery, where it wouldn't start the car straight away after being used.

Thats not the problem, i finally got sick of it and changed batterys between the cars, and all is sweet with the starting.

Confusing me tho, is i had the 'blown bulb' waring light on for a while, but now with the new battery, it has gone away.
And also was having problems with the fuel and temp gauges sticking, but they are both working perfect now. Coincidence?

    how old's the battery?
could've just reached the end of its life but i'd be double checking alternator outputs.

I'd put it down to the battery, if it is running very low voltage certain more important things take the power to keep running.

It is best to take your car for a good long drive every 2 months especially if you dont drive it very often to make sure that the battery is fully charged and will keep running in top contition for longer.

I daily drive my car now, but the car had a blown gearbox, which is why it wasnt used for a while.

Anyway, all is good now, except i now have to figure out how to reset the clock on the deck (never done it, and never have the manual)

    Thanks for the replys guys

once i pulled into the bottle shop, turned the car off and got out, bought my drinks got back in and the car wouldnt start, the instrument lights wouldnt even come on i got NOTHING.

I called a friend and moments before they arrived I gave it one more try, it had been sitting there for nearly 20 mins and it suddenyl kicked over, although the instrument lights were very dim when I tried it that one last time, I replaced the battery the next day and all ahs been fine ever since.

sounds like a typical flat/clapped out battery,

if a battery has had a lot of current draw on it, and then the draw stops, ie you turn the ignition off, the battery will recover power ie the rc rating on a battery (reserve current? (i think its called)),
so like you said you came back 20 min later and it just turned over and started cause it made up enough power etc etc

That one sounds like a loose or corroded battery terminal
