I've posted this up on another forum, I'm basically looking for anyone with aftermarket wheels that are above the 2" limit. I.e. you've put 19"+ rims on your car. Have you gotten them approved by an Engineer? Did you have any problems with this? What did they charge?
Another question goes out to all of those with aftermarket inlet manifolds. Do you still run the charcoal canister with aftermarket plenums. If you don't, how do you get away with it? If you do, how.
Thanks
They dont need to be changed mate. The 2 inch rule does not exist in most states anymore, including Queensland.
Really? When did this disappear and why did they get rid of it? Because they realised it was a waste of time?
Interested to see what is said about aftermarket plenums though.
And aftermarket computers, last time I read about them they were illegal aswell?
As of January 1st 2005 ADR 24 Tyre and Rim Selection was no longer in use... Instead tyre choice is now covered in ADR 23 and ADR 42 General Safety Requirements.
But neither of those 2 ADR's mention the size of the rim, all that matters now is the rolling diamater of the tyre and rim combination. So just make sure you use the correct tyre profile to keep the rolling diamater legal.
As LordHSV said, only SA still uses this law (and maybe NT) as they simply have not updated their state guidelines yet, which is pure lazyness as its been over 2 years. The SA guidelines refer to ADR 24 about 3 times even though it no longer exists.
If your car is built to comply with ADR24 then it still needs to comply with that 2 inch rule.
If your car complies with ADR42 then its different...i think....thats how i take it???
