ok guys this is my situation. own a VR. trans shat itself. gonna cost 1450 for a reco to be put in. just noticed that there is white smoke and moisture/water coming out exhaust. if the engine shats itself, about 1000 to fix. now should i,
A- spend the cash and fix my car. approx 2450 if engine bites the dust OR
B- put the 1450 away, get a small loan off a family member, save up for a month or so, sell mine for whatever i can get and buy some else for around 4000-5000.
wat you guys reckon. dont have a real attachment to it anymore and onle paid 2000 with rego all up when i first got it stock. oh and i do have another car{ a corona} to get around in for now.
Ditch it save up and get a new one. i like corona's, my mate had one and the leaf spring in the back end had a negative bend in it from a ralli bashing session out back on darwin and driving home i remember looking in the mirror and see it driving on a angle. It looked like a crab a i pissed myself laughing. So yeh sell yours for parts and go the new one. Heaps of deals out there.
lol i hate this one. was my learning car when i first go my p's. but thatks for your input. i have seen some nice kitted vr's around. straight all good for 4000
Yeah i saw a nice vs berlina in a car yard the other day $4599 with RWC and 6 mths rego. So yeah the deals are out there. Good luck man im off to bed night
Either way if your going to fix your VR its likely that you are going to spend more then its worth when you are going to sell it.
I would go as you said getting a small loan off a family member if you can,
unlike banks I would try to avoid as you have to pay a bit more due to the interest.
In the mean time if your Corona is still reliable and road worthy just drive that around till you can save up for your next car.
Go to damaged vehicle auction, buy a slightly smashed VR for around $500 ( crashed ones means it was going ok when hit more often than not).
Buy a carton of beer and get a few mates to help swap the trans and motor over.
Sell crashed car with your old running gear to a wreckers to get some money back ($300)
Should cost no more than $700- $300= $400
Easy as!
just an update, i have found this. he's gonna take my car and keep his rims and i pay 1500. 2000 with his rims but not really fussed on them. or 4000 outright. not too bad i reckon and comes with an extra motor too. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....4501&rd=1&rd=1
