Ive always wanted a vp calais, and finally ive found one that i wanna buy..But atm i have a VS S Pak. no problems wit it at all, been a good car 2 me..
Wat my question is...would u sell a newer car for an older one?? like for example the vs has a newer engine and body etc..
Just wanted your view on the situation..Thanks
mate of mine did a straight swap for a vx berlina gen 3, fr a vs ss. the vs ss is in immacualte conditon, sound system worth bout 6 grand.
i love the vs ss alot more but
Personally... I wouldn't
BUT, you say you've always wanted a VP Calais, and now that you've found one, if its really the car that you want, then go for it... Maybe take it for a bit of a drive before hand though, dont want to get rid of a car that you enjoy for something thats only going to cause you problems
But wait... There's more!!
But that's not all!!!

VT Calais II... The Italian Stallion
depends how much you love the car really, i sold a VN Clubsport and bought a VC SLE.
We got rep back, yaaay!
You could probably get a VS Calais for not much difference of the S pak. Does it have to be a VP? All depends on how much money you've spent on the VS such as power steering pump, suspension, bushes, tyres, etc. You could end up spending all that on the VP. Is it worth it? I'd be shopping around for a VP International if so. You didn't mention if the VP would be a V8 or V6.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
Only thing ive doen to the VS is the sub, amp, and cd deck which is all coming out if i sell it... Only moeny ive lost on it is of course the bills (which any car is guna do) so forget that.. and a service...other than that nothing..
Vp Calais lowered with rims looks so sexy...2day i was kickin footy near my place and a white 2 tone vp calais went past with lowered and rims...i think ti was a sign..
All im asking is...am i stupid selling a 95 VS S Pack with 230'000 k m and an ecotec motor that has hardly given me trouble for a VP calais with 156'000 on the clock.
both v6's btw.
just out of curiosity, how much are you buying the vp for and selling the Vs for?

buying the VP for $4500, guy is guna gime a sub and amp he had in it too...which will go with the 1 i currently got.
And im selling the VS for $5500..its immac. and already been given an offer for that.
By the way..of coruse im not guna buy the VP if when i go look at it/drive it its a peice of ****..
Vp= 156'000kms
VS = 240'000
Remember VP is 15 years old so that amount of Km's is amazing.
yer 15 years old and those kms are pretty low, just check if hes got upto date log books and invoices to prove it!
goodluck with it mate
yeh if u like it go for it. sounds like its been taken care of
Well, youve been driving around in your car now for some time and you said its never given you any problems, it runs good etc etc. As far as you know youre going to jump in this VP, drive around for a week and the trans is going to die. Ever heard that saying "Better than devil you know"
But i may be a little bias because ive just never been a fan of the VN/VP.
If it's a good VP and it really is what you've always wanted, and what your heart desired, then go for it
You could regret it, you might not. But really check over the VP first. Personally I wouldn't do it. But then again, it depends on the car I was looking at.

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
God must love stupid people, He made so many.
I did it, I went from a VR V6 BT1 with around 280,000km's on it to a VN SS with all the fruit and 172,000km's. Do ittttttt!!!
Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra

id trade my fiancez Vr for this: http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars...8078&D=3458078
Mmmm black wit grp A kit..... MAN I WISH I HAD THE CASH![]()
LOL I would trade my left arm for that. Ive never liked them but that is beautiful.
I tossed my VS S Pac in favour for a HSV Enhanced VP Calais just over three years ago.
131,000km VS V6 made way for a 103,000km VP V8.
The VR/VS arent that much different to a VP, just dash and bodywork mostly.
I'd say do it.
mate, if tha vp is in immac condition, id highley recommened it, absolutlyyyyyyyyyy awsome car, besides tha power (i only got tha V6) it has everything u could want, and they drive sooo nice, but if its abit battered then no, bcause they r gettin on in their age, but usually wen these are kept in good condition, there reallyyy good condition![]()
Haha,
Its not that hard.
I went from poxy white VS S pac to this:
i wouldnt, only cause i wanna move on in newer cars, and because youll be only stuck in a depreciation hole all the time, unless it gunna be a second or third car
I was seriously thinking about doing this (still sorta am!)...
I'm getting a bit fed up with the issues my VZ has and the BS I have to go through to get problems fixed. I'm from the OLD school of being able to work on any part of my car and not have to worry about computers (ironically I've been in I.T. for 22 years LOL!!!!) and all that electronic stuff.........and the fact I can't get a service manual. I'm very tempted to find a half decent HZ Kingswood and restore it.... Good, solid, easy to work on car that has just about everything to offer a current model Commodore has.. Or my all time favorite (and still kicking myself for selling it) a 1978 F100 FWD, she was a beast, took me everywhere. But then there was the HT 350 Monaro I had and the XU1 and the......... Ok, best I stop reminiscing, but yes I'd go to an older car purely from a serviceability and reliability point-of-view.
sold my flawless/immaculate vt exec to go for a vs ute because the vt was sluggish, ended up finding out the ute was pretty sluggish to and upgraded to the stato much happier with that over the vt despite the vt beeing in better condition
