    Default Bloody Car again

    Hey Guys
    VS V8 wont start , just seems to be a loud ticking sound, any ideas

    That doesn't tell us much



    So you turn to acc and it works?(stereo and dash light etc)

    then you start it and it just clicks?

    if so, thats your starter motor. But it could also be your ignition module, 5Ls are really bad for that, not to mention the prick of a place they are to get to.

    Got a mate that can help you out? get him to 'hit' the starter motor with a jack handle while you try to turn the car over, and if that works, then its the starter.

    try it again with the module (person with the pole will have to stand on the passenger side of the car, and put the pole down behind the motor, and hit (you should be able to see it)) and the same, if it fires its the module (note really expensive on labour to change)

    if neither, i have no clue!

    also try the battery as my old mans 5litre fairlane did the same thing i told him it was the battery he didnt believe me so i connected up some jumpers and she fired up first turn the holden 5litres are also notorioius for flat batterys due to vapour (especialy in the vs statseman) but yeah if not try tapping the solinoid on the starter!

    Thanx Guys, still strugglin tho

    tried jump starting it of the young blokes car, nuthin happened.
    Is the starter motor under the extractors on the passenger side ?

    Yes starter motor is on the passenger side.


    Mine is anyway, you should be able to get to it from behind the front wheel, just next to the headers

    coil ? myne made bad ticking noises on turnover when the coil **** itself

    i had that problem was just a loose bat terminal..no matter how tight i did it up was still loose so i had to replace

    the coil is the other half to the module.


    I was describing where the coil was, the ignition module is next to the cruise control lol
