Yes it can stuff up. When I did the VN tacho dash years ago all I had to do was put the new gauges in and it all worked. - Have you tryed to swap the tacho and fuel/temp gauges over to your cluster?

found the problem.. it had broken copper bits right underneath it.. got some wire and stickytape and renewed the connection.. works now

Have a spare dash with the same pproblem.. fixed it , but its still not working.. and i know the speedo is in working condition.. could there be something else causing it to not work?

are you going to renew the connection properly? i don't know that stickytape and wire is the best long term solution!

    Hi

Has anyone had problems with the lower dash lights, like indicators, hand brake light etc not working? I installed a level 2 dash all works well except for the lower indicator lights.

    Crackers.

    Crackers.
It could be blown bulbs. they are easily replaced. you can do it with the cluster in or out of the car too. If you want to leave the cluster in:

Unclip the fuse cover under the steering column. If you get down in the foot well and look up under the cluster you should see a row of little black things about 8 or 10 mm long and 5mm or so wide on each side of the cluster. they are the bulbs for the dash lights. Twist off the indicator one - you might need needle nosed pliers to grab it. Chuck a new one in and see what happens. if the bulb is blown you will see it when you pull it out. Just like checking a normal house light bulb. If the bulb is still in tact then its most likely the cluster. try one of the other bulbs that do work in the indcator slot and see what happens.

I have the same problem and its not the bulbs - tried new ones and didnt fix it. If so there isnt much you can do about it besides getting a new cluster.

By the way, i picked up a bulb from holden for 5 bucks.
