hey i just bought this 1992 VP. it was labeled as an SS/Clubsport, but it can only be one or the other. it has the clubsport kit, but i dont think its a vp clubsport kit, so that makes me think its just a vp ss with a kit on it, unless holden brought out a special edition vp? can anybody help
if this is the car i think it was, i was looking at this car a while ago, looks like the same caryard, didin't it have ss seats? back then it was like $9---
it was at B and H autos in maddington, but im not sure whether it has ss seats
yep im pretty sure its the same car, because i had a look at a few cars and went across the road for some chicken![]()
haha fair enough, you dont know what model it is do you?
im sorry greenvn but that makes absolutly no sense to me at all, are you saying that theres a plate on the car with a code like that on it, which would tell me what model it is?
The SS is based on the Executive. so the plate model will say: VP8VK19-A9F.
Thats an SS optioned Executive sedan.

ok, so the bodykit has been added later, and is not stock....
No not stock - it would have been added. The Clubsport is based on an Executive before HSV get it. If it was a genuine Clubsport it would have a few bits like the HSV plate, dash tag..... They may have been removed and sold. You can check the VIN with HSV to find out.
There was 387 VP Clubsports made $39,571 new and 65 5th Anni. Club Sports made $43,870 new.

i dont remember finding a hsv build number, im pretty sure its not a clubsport because the dash tag was ss so im thinking its a ss, either way nice buy buddy
yea cheers, i managed to get new tyres and brakes out of them, at their expenseim picking it up on wednesday, cant wait. the ss has a standard diff doesnt it? no lsd?
It'll have G80 as the code on the compliance plate.

I would suggest its only an SS, does it have the hsv tag on it?
The boot badges are the right clubby ones, except for the 185i one thats from vr/vs clubbys, and the bonnet badge is a vr/vs one. Think the spoiler is just the SS one too....
SS interior was all red and checkerd wasnt it? the clubby is a bluey grey with with bucket/racing seats.
It don't think it's even an SS, it's hard to tell from those pictures but my IRS eyes don't see camber on the back wheels and the rear track looks pretty wide but yeah an SS will have IRS and a LSD.
Anyway im backing it being a ex highway patrol live axle executive made into a SS copy with a kit, lets see if I'm right?
IF IT WAS AN SS!
Wheres the Spotlights???
Even VP clubsports have spotlights & different grills...
No one noticed the HSV bonnet emblem is a VR/VS HSV badge...
Not one ss detail on the car either....
No SS or Clubsport, not 1 lil bit of camber on the rear wheels at all..
IMHO!
You just got royally rooted on a 5ltr VP Exec Wank Edition...
Cheers

The compliance plate should tell the story when he gets the car on Wednesday.

The only problem is if it's a fake SS then it's value is probably half the sticker price, apart from that it does look a nice enough VP
when he gets it he can sure them for negligent misstatement and get all his money back, yay!
there are always little things which make these hard to pick... im gonna go with genuine SS that has had some bits sold and thenr eplced, like front bar and stuff....
well see..

yea im hoping it is a geniune ss, becaus thats what i wanted. if its an executive i will be furious! can i actually sue if it turns out to be an executive, or at least get my money back?
yea it does have the bluey grey bucket seats, so it sounds like everything has been chopped and changed like crazy! thats pretty irritating actually, but i guess you pay the price for not researching clubsports and ss's properly. i guess ill just pray that its an ss haha!
its is possible you could, dont tak emy word on this i cant actually provide oyu with adivce over the net, but, if they have sold to you a vechical, claiming it to be a genuine SS or clubsport, and it turns out not to be either but rather an exec, you could proceede under contractual law to claim with respect to negligence.
You could try to prove fraud as they coerced you into siging the deed of sale under the impressionit was an SS, ie, it was a clincher, they new, it go tthe deal. Thats hard to prove.
Basically, under the TPA (trade practices act) section 52, sue for negligence(see a lawyer first lol)
i cant wait till wednesday!

I'm leaning towards a genuine Clubby.
The bodykit is VP HSV, they don't have spotties (the senator has a different bar, i think the same as the stato one, with the 'squarer' spotties. Theres not spotties so its not an SS.
(Also note Series 1 SSs didn't have IRS i don't think, it was only optional, then standard on series 2)
Not sure if clubbys had IRS either, as being based on exec, they didn't even get climate control.
Can you get some interior pics maybe? Focusing on the steering wheel, left hand side of dash, 'rear' seats, and the interior as a whole, and the Dash cluster.
The Front badge is updated, VP ones have a red ring, not silver. The rear badges look fine, save for the 185i badge which is clearly from a VR/S clubby
