Default Anti theft of driving lights

Just put a huge set of Hellas on the nudge bar and I'm looking at some way of stopping theft. Short of tack welding, filing the thread off (I'd like to get them off someday!) or putting padlocks on anyone got an ingenius idea? I've heard of anti theft nuts for bolts but dunno where you can get em.

    Cheers guys

I have seen a guy at my workplace has drilled a hole in the mounting bolt and put a small padlock through the hole so the nut cannot be removed.

Get a thick nut, and round it of once its tightened.

Then when you want to remove them, drill through the side. Then Tap a thread, and put a bolt in it, then all you need to do is undo it that way (using the bolt on its side to grab hold of)

Other than going to extremes like that, there nothing really you can do.
Are they on their for a purpose, or just because of wank factor?

If i thief wants something , they'll get it..

you might be able to secure the spotlights on.. but what about the nudgebar? they might just take that.. spotties included! , or even the whole car. the small padlock on the bolt is your best bet
Its not what you know or who you know , its how well you can fake it

I like the rounded off idea. Except I predominantly use Metrinch spanners and sockets so the rounded nut isnt a problem getting off.

There is a lock nut you can get, it is dome shaped and has holes in it that the key fits into. Here is the IPF locknut IPF Lights IPF Accessories and Globes, different makers have different styles.

so then when someone trys to steal it, fails and just smashes the light for a laugh?

If you live with that attitude, don't put anything on your car....or for that matter, don't even own a car or anything else that can be stolen. Life is a risk, you just need to take steps to lessen the risks.

Yeah, pretty much. IF you park somewhere particularly dodgy, and have to leave the car there for a long time, even go as far as just removing the light assembly. When I'm parked somewhere a little iffy, I always take my UHF arial off.

Are you serious stealthy? I'm a country boy! Without spotties I'd be collecting a roo every 200km!! They ARE there for a purpose. Excellent ideas guys, I'm gonna go with those lock nuts not_an_abba_fan. Cheers!

Without having a location in your details, or in your post, i couldn't possibly know weather or not you live in the country. For all i know your one of those 4WD wankers who have about 8 spotties lined up on the roof, and they drive the streets with them on
