If you have a stock single spinner, can you convert it to LSD by changing the gears or do you have to replace the whole diff with a LSD one?

You should only have to change the diff centre to change to LSD but Ive only had experience with banjo diffs so salisbury diffs might be different but I suspect they would be the same. If you do change the centre out remember to refill with the correct LSD gear oil.
yup u can use the same axles and diff housing. u can even use the same diff gears. u just change the center
i actually was gonna ask this this question. so is this a hard job? or is it best left to professionals, ive never played with a diff

the diff center has to be shimmed to mesh in with the pinion gear. it is to stop diff noise and backlash. if u want it to last and dont wanna wreck your diff i would leave it 4 someone who is confident with diffs. transmision places often do diffs?
cheers guys i was never sure and even with me being here a year i dont think this question has ever been brought up

the problem with the salisbury diff is the LSD is only a 2 spider gear setup and isn't that strong unfortunatly. a better option would be to fit the borg warner 78 with 28spine axles from a VL if your going to be putting some serious power through it.

cheaper in the long run to buy an LSD diff complete , and replace the whole thing , than buy a centre , and pay to have it professionally lapped in.
Its not what you know or who you know , its how well you can fake it
