The likes of STP and Wynnes, Nulon as well make claims that there products clean injector systems and fuel systems.
Does anyone know if any scentific studies have been done that proves or disproves there claims?
dont know about those fuel additives, but i know that all the oil additives from same makers were disproved through testing on cabs over like 100,000km or something, dont have the link but probably findable.
basically: i doubt it, wouldnt try it
-Its a universal language of relaxation-
i read a independent test done on all the different octane boosts you can buy once, it was on the net but i cant remember where i found it.
the test showed that NONE of the products got there claimed RON increase...most where lucky to increase by 1 RON, let alone the 5 RON they claimed on the bottle.
the worst from memory was that STP one and the second best was the Nulon pro strength....the best wasnt something id heard of before, and i cant remember what it is now.
but i guess what im saying is that you cant always beleive the claims on these products.
if you wanted to give your fuel system a clean, put some high octane fuel in your car and give it some full throttle driving![]()
Quagmire: My fellow Americans, I have not been entirely truthful with you. I did gagoogidy that girl. I gashmoygadied her gaflavity with my googus. And I am sorry.
I use one which is added at a rate of 1:1000 (1ml per 1 litre of fuel) costs around $1.80 for 60 litres (I think its $30 for 1 litre) and the cars I've used it on both carby and injected also bikes, lawn equipment and marine show massive improvement in a few areas.
My sisters just bought a 1988 corolla. First 4 tanks she got 400km on the dot. Using this in every tank- the first time she got 460, 480, then 500km. Now it starts easier of a cold morning and idles smoother. I've actually had to turn the idle down for her.
My grandfathers MK1 escort- got him onto it. I pulled the carby off it to repair a leaking manifold gasket. I literally thought I had dropped metal down into the manifold- it was dead set sparkling.
My VT- feels sluggish if I forget to put it in, as I use it every tank. I pulled the intake manifold off for repairs and looked down the ports- again sparkling. The valves looked like clean stainless. I could even see the spray pattern from the injector into the port. Wiping inside with a white cotton cloth I barely got a smudge. Injectors were spotless. I just wish my dog hadn't eaten my phone otherwise I would still have pictures
This additive does not increase RON, oxygen content of the fuel and is CAMS approved as an upper cylinder head lubricant.
Better yet I've heard of long distance transport using this gear and not touching injectors or diesel fuel pumps after the service life of the vehicle, typically 1.2 million k's
I put a bottle of fuel system cleaner in my VT yesterday and i have to honest and say it seems to accelerate harder.
Anyways Bradcad, whats the name of this product you use?
PM Lubricants
A couple of non scentific results for you all. I put through a bottle of STP injection system cleaner which seems to have made little to no difference.
A week later i put a bottle of STP fuel system cleaner through and have noticed an increase in power and fuel economy seems noticably improved.
Fuel system additives are OK to use, whether they work or not is dependent on the level of contamination in the fuel system. Oil additives IMO are not OK, as they may react with the additives that are already in the oil. Why add something that is already there? The formulation is pretty precise, putting more crap in is just making things worse.
Sometimes it sounds like I know what I'm talking about....
Stuff like the Spitfire Injector cleaner works pretty well. My car was doing all sorts of ****, stalling losing power etc etc... Chucked some injector cleaner in...waited a week or so and it was fine.
I use some of them and i rekon they are pretty good, but i use them as a temporary solution untill you can get your fuel system properlly cleaned.
As long as it sounds like it...

The product is called PM800. It is a fuel system conditioner suitable for use in all hydrocarbon fuels in all fuel systems (seek advice when using in 2 stroke)

Northern union,
it's going to cost too much to send it down to you. There are 2 distributors down there, I'm getting onto PM to see who is closest.
Bradcad do they have a distributor in perth at all?
Not sure but being in Australia its easy enough to send it over if need be how much are you chasing?
doesnt look like they have a distributor in WA
