no greater than 2inches of the orignal diameter, ive read dylan post it a billion times now.... You need a 30 profile not a 35 if you run 19"s...

it used to be 2 inches wheel size, but noe it overall diameter?? Dylan will sort it all out.

Yeah ADR 24 tyre and rim choice is still quoted in the state guidelines. Strictly speakings its no more than 50mm but this is stretched to 2 inches.

VR's had 15's stock which means 17" rims are as large as you can go LEGALLY but you still have to maintain the 15mm within stock rolling diameter of the tyre. On 17's you should be right, the default size a wheel store gives will be fine.

Once you get to 18's and larger though the overall rolling diameter is normally wrong as tyre stores fit the incorrect size tyre. I.e. A 235 or 245 19" tyre needs a 30 profile NOT a 35 profile like everyone actually has.

If you decide to disregard SA's old laws then post up what size rim you are looking for and i'll post the correct tyre combinations for you (not just legal reasons but to maintain speedo accuracy as well).

so legally now we can have bigger rims, just as long as we have a smaller profile,, is that right??

or is it still illegal to put 18s or 19s on my vr??

if i get 18s what tyre will i need?
if i get 19s what tyre will i need?

    cheers guys

No you cant legally get anything bigger than 17" in SA. 2" over stock is as large as you can go.

If you had 19's on a VR you'd need a 35 profile for anything from a 225 width through to 245 width. Anyone else reading this, other commodore models vary.

On 18's you'd need a 40 profile going on the same widths as above.

Largest in SA is 13" if you have one horse, or 14" if you have two.

Im guessing the tyre placard has been changed. Check the spare in the boot. VS SS (maybe VR SS too) were the only ones with 16's then.
