Default chrome wheels chip or damage easy?

did a search and couldnt find the answer so as posted, im thinking about getting a set of 19" chrome rims but im worried that they will chip or scratch easy? does anyone with chrome rims have any recomendations on how to avoid getting them damaged (aside from the obvious e.g scraping gutters and dirt roads ect)

Chrome rims or any othe rims for that matter are not really like the paint on your car so it is harder to get stone chips on it.

The only bad side is brake dust that accumulate on it which can be seen very easily and requires more frequent clean to keep it shiny. But that depends on what pads you use and how you use the brakes.

I'd say not to worry too much about, just get it, shove it on and take pics for us all to see.

If there are hard to get to places on the rims, make sure you clean then regularly as they can tarnish over time from all the crap stuck in the little crevases. Using your gernie should take care of most of that though

yep i can tell ya they chip pretty easy, i had a set on my vk didnt really care about them though but once u chip em they start to flake n just peel off, so just b real careful, just go for the hyper silver wheels to b much safer

I wouldn't say chrome chips/scratches easier but the thing is once it does get scratched, it is much harder and more expensive to repair than alloy rims.

    lol good tips.
when ya cleaning them, if they have big flat patches of chrome, use tissue or toilet paper to clean them. i'v used soft cloths, but when the grime gets caught in that, it marks the rim. not quite a scratch, but it marks it. done it to mine a few times. anyone got any good tips to get rid of surface marks on chrome rims?

I have those small round concave or convex mirror (dunno which one) on the passenger mirror to see the wheels without tilting.

It helps heaps also when changing lanes it helps as well. Its useful.

I know how wide my car is. The only scratches my rims have are when they weren't on the car (one went flying doing 80k's, and the other dropped onto the face on the road when i was changing tyres)

Just so you know, Black is the new chrome Don't get left in 2006
