Wet Weather handling
Hey guys, My car is horrible in the wet, Pedders reckons it needs new front Shocks and the tyres ive got (18s) whilst arnt too old are a bit average in the wet too..
But what I was wondering, does sport suspension make your car handle better in the Wet or only in the dry? I know its a dumb question but thought I would ask.
Ive been reading through all the posts on suspension and couldnt find one on wet weather handling.
Ive been looking at Pedders sports ryder suspension, but I only want to get it if its going to make my car handle better in the rain!
Cheers!

Having your car lowered will improve handling a little bit all 'round if done properly. As a general rule lower doesn't mean better, but stiffer shocks and springs with a lower centre of gravity will generally lead toward better cornering capability in all conditions. Swaybars are also something to look at and research.
Tyres, however, I tend to think are the biggest factor in a car's wet handling. You can have your car worked and tuned by the best mechanic in the country - but if you whack a set of shagged RE92s on there, she'll still handle like a sledge hammer.

Yep tyres make a huge difference. If you can afford it, get a good set next time u need them.

generally speaking, harder suspensions work better in the dry. in the wet you want a nice forgiving suspension, which is not the same as one that is worn out and wobbles around.

I'd much rather better tyres before buying non standard suspension.

Thanks guys,
I have Gemstones on at the moment.
They came with a Tyre / Wheel package from Bob Jane.
The guy said they were reasonably good tyres and much better than brands like Nang tangs (I think he called them?) but now im not too sure.
I will definately go get some new tyres i think.
What do you guys reccomend? go for the name brands like Bridgestone?
Thanks!

I refuse to buy anything less than SP MAXX by Dunlop, just had 4 * Eagle F1 GSD3's fitted, best tyre i have used yet, i would love for someone to say they know a better road going tyre than these babies...i have used 12 different "performance" style brands, these are the best i have used to date.
That being said, i prefer to spend the money to make sure i have the best and safest tyres available for use under my feet. I never once mind paying for quality.

Well theres ur reason if ur payin 4 a wheel and tyre package u will always get the cheapest tyre fitted 2 make the packages sound more attractive now if bob jane compared them 2 nang kangs hahaha sorry but they should b ashamed 2 sell u those and let u drive outer there drive way shows all they r after is ur money nothing more.
have u got a budget 2 spend on tyres? this is prolly an area where u shouldnt take ne short cuts and spend the money where its needed u'll thank urself later wen ur life is depended on the tyres u choose.

I expected cheap tyres on the tyre and wheel package but not THIS BAD.
Oh well, live and learn.
I woudnt want to spend over 1200 for 4 tyres and a balance etc.
Ive been looking around the forums and read a wheels/motor mag review on tyres and Im thinking I might go with the Falkin FK452s.
They appear to be a bit cheaper than the Eagle F1 GSD3's kindly suggested by Minux but from the reviews still a great tyre!
