Default Do i need shocks??

I have a Vn series 1. It has fe2, but i wana lower it about 1inch to make it sit just nice how i want it. A guy i know lowers cars and insists i do not need new shocks, only the lowered springs, and the panhard rod. I just dunno what to think as i really thought it would be best to have new shocks. Hes dad has a VN BT1 lowered 50mm with standard shocks and says it rides nice. What are peoples thoughts? Cheers..

well it really depends on the age of the shocks. if it's more than 10 years old i'd definatley be getting new shocks to go along with the new springs.

New shocks will definitely make it ride better. The effective life of a shock absorber is 40 000kms, so if you think they have done more than that, replace them. Shorter shocks on the rear to trap the springs are the way to go too.

u will need shorter shockies so when u jack up the car (or go over speed bumps) the springs wont fall out. not sure if ya can get front ones tho, for the earlier commys ya cant but im guessing the shocks would be the same for vn?

just chuck the lowered springs in and if u dont like it then get some shocks too.
