    Angry Super Glue Removal!

    Hey guys,

Incident happened a few weeks back when super glue dripped on to the rear quarter panel of my car. Of course, it went unnoticed because I wasn't around at the time and now it has set rock hard and I'm afraid it's going to take the paint off with it.

Now what is the best thing to do? Try and get it off and use touch-up paint or is there something else I can do?

    Thanks for any help.

Aceton will get it off, but be prepared for it to discolour the paint.

Yeah I knew it would, which is why I tried Acetone free nail polish remover but that did nothing. So you think it's a safe bet to try acetone to remove and touch up with paint?

Try using a very fine grade of wet and dry sandpaper( 1500 grade or finer ) and stick it to an icypole stick with double sided tape and use plenty of washing up liquid . Hold the stick at either end and push down in the centre so it is banana shaped so you only sand on the glue . Just make sure you only do a few strokes at a time and check as you go but use heaps of washing liquid as a lubricant.

Sweet... I work next door to an Autobarn so I'll pick some up next time I'm in

If that fails, then acetone it is I guess...

Picked up some today from Repco... gave it a decent scrub but it didn't get most of it off. I think it's been on too long. I'll give it another shot later but looks like I might need to try acetone.

try a slightly rougher grade of wet and dry , it does take time though

some persistance and keeping hot water on it will also make it fall off, much like it eventually does when stuck to your fingers.
