Hello just interested to find out what damage and how much money worth of damage has to be done for a eb2-ed fairmont and a vn-vs holden to be a repairable write off because in not 100% sure on that and if ones a reparible write off, does that mean you can buy it back from the insurance company if they keep it and use the insurance money and pay for it your self to get it fixed and get it inspected and engineered before reregistration.

Also what damage has to be done and how much money worth of damage has to be done to make a eb2-ed fairmont and a vn-vs holden a stat write off.

Can you please make a list of what damage has to be done to make it a repairable write off and a sepreate list of what damage has to be done to make it a stat write off.

do you think laws will change or not. if so im starting a petition to stop it changing and make it the way it was 20 years ago.

was there reparible and stat writeoff catogaries 20 years ago and how long has there been those 2 writeoff catogaries.

Stat writeoff occurs when the chassis is rooted, and cannot be safely repaired.

Repairable writeoff is one which can be fixed, but at a greated cost than the value of the car. So an ED/EB or VN/VP which is insured for around 2-3 grand these days, will be written off repairably with about 2 grand of damage.

greater than 70% of the cost of the car is a repairable write-off.

Homer when will you stop wasting our time?

A repairable write off will usually mean more than 33% of the cars value in damage.

the law on stat. writeoffs was introduced to stop 2 things:
1. cut and shuts on structurally unsafe wrecks, and
2. rebirthing, in which destroyed vehicles miraculously get turned into as new repaired cars, and somewhere else a poor guy is left standing in his driveway wondering where he left his car.

it's not going to change back to what it was.

some organisations have called for changes. it's political.

if you look on websites you'll find more info on it.

i don't know that they're going to change. who knows for sure, you only find out afterwards

the part that sucks about it is it doesnt matter what uv done to tha car bodykit ect. they still only give u tha market value of tha car. i had a 1992 vp exec which was writen off 3 months ago. lady failed to give way to me she was comin from my left at tha round about i was almost through and she t boned me. she was rentin a car so she had insurence. but they still only gave me 3200 cause that was the set prise for a good cond exec. i recon i wld of got 4000 for it if i sold it. it had new paint job gts bodykit nice car
