Two different cars, they would feel different even with the same extractors on each.
I have Genies on mine, only because I picked them up for next to nothing.

From what I have heard time and time again is on the holden v6 HM tend to be a power gain spread across the rev range, whereas pacemakers tend to be more peaky- more gain but all at top end.

Can you get away with just mild steel?

As NAAF said there on different cars so hard to tell. The Pacemakers have abit deeper note and the HMs have abit of a tinny note (not noticable unless you are really trying to or comparing them both). Id prob end up deciding based on the price... The hm are stainless so would prob last longer tho I havent ever heard of anyone needing to replace a set of pacemakers b4....

From an industry point of view, buy stainless, they are dearer, are prone to cracking and end up costing the consumer more.
From a consumers perspective, buy mild steel, they don't rust and block up the cat, they are cheaper, they last just as long as stainless steel and have the same performance benefits.
Having worked in the industry for 17 years and now running my own wholesale business, I have had fewer problems with mild steel than stainless, even though the ratio was largely in favour of mild steel in sales. Stainless headers always crack at the flange or at one of the first collectors. Stainless steel is less flexible than mild steel so it suffers from stress fractures at the welds. They usually go for a couple of years before they crack but I would say 90% of them crack, and the other 10% probably crack too, they just never came back to us to get repaired.

It depends on where you are, the Pacemakers are $540 but shipping may hit you. WA isn't a problem, but Pacemaker don't like crossing boundaries with their agents.

Ive got HM headers on the VT im pretty sure they only came in stainless as mine were cant complain with them just yet but i got them from a group buy on here 4 340 so was a bargin if u ask me and as bradcad said they hav a wider spread rev range on them than pacies but really its only a 6 either way ur not gonna get much gain outer them both power wise i just put these on purly 4 sound.
On the other hand im gonna go pacies on the VP, V8 tho so prolly cant compare i just wanna see how they go coz its different

The biggest problem with stainless (I work with it most days) is that it bends like crazy biatch when it's heated so although I never owned stainless headers, I can imagine they would bend all over the place when getting hot and that would cause the cracking. When you cut a circle out of a sheet on stainless you can watch the offcut peel away from the plasma as it heats and expands, it moves out so much it's just ridiculous:P
