    $3000 could get a v8 in there

    Hi starfish,
Something I have noticed a lot lately is people in the same situation as you, looking to spend their last thousands on something that may be overpriced and ungainful.....what happened to tinkering? I know it is a lot more limited on electronic cars but there is an art to getting gains for bugger all. try different intake tubes and muck around with the intake, buy a set of gaskets, pull off the manifold and heads (you dont have to port them if youre not confident, just de-burr them, clean them up) doing this stuff provided you have the tools costs you nothing much except time. Who knows, you might have fun and learn something on the way! once you do stuff like that, then you can put your extractors and stuff on. you will find better gains if you keep your common sense about you.
    Hope this helps

I tend to think it's not worth doing a manual conversion on a car, unless that car means a lot to you. If you want manual, your best bet is to buy a manual car whole. And for the money you have... I think your vest investment would be a V8

I've only spent around $500 on my performance mods sofar, and plan to stop at $1000 after diff gears.

    Hey Mate

Do extractors, CAI, Exaust 2 1/2 catback, ratio rockers, and diff change, though its up 2 you or you could spend more on CAM or Supercharging it, though not sure how much its gona cost for supercharger, Cam change i think you looking at 1500 for parts and labour, though u got a mate thats a mechanic so, parts only and a carton of beer lol

lower it... you will feel the difference in handling. no point having a car that goes 'ard straight line but feels like a boat as soon as you try to throw it into a corner

Turn corners? Straight line is all you need. Commodores weren't meant for corners
