hey guys a mate got offered some VE 19's an wants to know what the go is with getting them machined to fit his VX, how much does it cost? an is it safe\worth it.
cheers, nick
I know you need some special, well, not special, but different wheel nuts to make sure the wheel sits right, but you arnt doing any damage to the wheels, other than making them suit something else, slight modification isnt hard, and will be fine, do it.........
any1 eles got any ideas on this? also forgot to ad is it legal?
have a look at wheel king website Wheel King > Home
i was looking at getting some for my VT and was told they would be legal they have to machine down the hub or something.
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
fair enough, is there a site with information on this?
they dont need to be machined the difference is the wheel nut holes are a larger diameter due to holden changing from 19mm wheel nuts from VB-VZ to 22mm on the new VE. to SAFELY have the rims you need to upgrade to 22mm studs but one of my mates has had VE SS-V 19's on his car with standard studs and no problems, but eventually you'll maybe some/all studs and the wheel might come off.. like people putting commodore rims on HQ's/HX's etc..
take the wheels down to your local "TTF - The Tyre Factory" franchise, all that needs to be done is the VE wheels will need to be bored out on the rear side (The side that faces ur brakes) should set you back roughly 60-80 dollars per wheel, perfectly safe, perfectly legal.

,
no no, im buying a set for my car an email from wheel king stated that the hubs are slightly smaller on the ve to the vz, its the circle bit on the inside of the wheel that needs to be made bigger,
you have to use genuine gm wheel nuts as they use a different taper on the end, this is what causes the wheels to fall off
