    Default Vynal Paint/Dye

    Hey,
I have some parts on my interior in my VR Exec that are the very light grey colour and in my opinion looks sh*te. I have replaced my centre console with a VN SS one as I am doing a power windows conversion and the donar car is a VN SS, the real dark grey interior colour. Ill also have the same colour door trims.

I was wondering if there was a way I could paint or dye my VR Exec bits like the front of the glove box and the bit under the steering wheel that protects fuses and also the top part of the console that surrounds the radio? U cant use these parts off the VN because they are all broken from the accident it was in. I will use the bits up the pillars and the scuff panel. I am planing to get all my plastic light grey interior the VN SS Dark Grey colour.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dan

prep it right, do it on a warm day and itll last for a long time. make sure to use some prepsol/wax and grease remover, or if you choose, the vht prep spray stuff. and make sure the plastics are clean from anything, ie. armorall

    Alright cheers boys.

Is there a colour that is exactly the same as the VN SS Dark grey colour?

I got the VHT dye, code number 954, is pretty close to the VN SS Colour, depends how thick you put it on.

Hey mate, how would you go about preping the plastics other than the VHT prep spray? Having trouble with the door pods and door handles as they are "plastic" not vynal. The rest of the door trim is fine. Just scratches off so easily.

    Cheers

all i do is clean them, i usually just use wax n grease remover.

do it on a warm day

spray an even coat on and you can usually see it start to soak in. do a few coats and let dry.

And do you still get the scratching on the plastics?

Should i leave the can out in the sun or warm it up with a hair dryer so itll bond better and not scratch off by the lightest scuff?

    Cheers

the stuff ive done lately isnt in the car yet, sitting in the shed somewhere. but the xf me and dad did years ago didnt scuff when we had it.

id suggest letting the plastic sit out in the sun.

hmm... even used the VHT Prep / Cleaner stuff and still scratches.... is there a plastic primer that can be used.... any sort of spray on primer? Would like to keep the texture in the plastic but not too worries about it... just want my interior back together.

Maybe even something that can go on over the top... low sheen type clear coat maybe?
