Default thought of a great neon idea

i have a plan for my 93 VR, instead of just putting neons under the car like everyone else, i was thinking of placing neons under the seats inside, and wiring them up to the door light control, so that when u open a door 'BING!' instant disco lighting

    anyone tried this b4?

its nothing new, most people (including me) just place the LED/Neon strip in the front footwells and wire them up to the interior light circuit, pretty easy to do, under the seats wouldnt be too hard either but you have to make sure theres enought slack on the wire to account for adjustment on the seats.

yup ^^^ we did that too in the VN, looks great. we did under the dash etc in the footwells for the fronts & just under the front seats for the rear footwells.

Lets ponder the title of this thread "thought of a great neon idea". That would assume that neons on a commodore is infact a great idea. Which it isnt. I can handle the interior stuff from time to time, under the footwells and under the seats, i used to have them myself, but people tend to think neons are the be all and end all for customisation, its a little bit to ricey.

But in answeer to this guys thread, the idea is older than the filament inside your neon. Its simple and easy to do and probally costs you aboug 60 bucks.

A bit of lighting like a couple of neons in the footwells or under the seats isnt too bad, as long as you dont go overboard. *a certain maloo ute comes to mind*

i thought neons were legal if they were inside the car- not outside under the side of the car?

Well i did mine a while ago via a switch i placed on the center console. Just spliced the wires from the cigarette lighter. Would imagine you would just need to splice into the wires that connect to the door and the light. The door opening would act as the switch.

you need to find the wires going to your main interior light, they run down the drivers a-pillar. mine were easily accessed behind a panel above the accelerator pedal, i dare say yours will be different. Once you found them splice and solder the wires for neon to the pos and neg interior light wires. easy.

yep sure that will work fine, i have a mate planning on doing the same, should be even easier as you dont have to go searching for wires!
