Default Buying work ute in next few weeks!

    hi guys

decision time, im selling my daily soon to buy a UTE.

I've decieded to go holden, now i want something reliable, comfy and sometimes fun to drive, has to be on gas.

Ill have about $9000 to spend, hopefully it will come with a rwc.
I have to decide between either an old holden ute ( such as HQ) or a VR-VS ute.

I've only ever driven a VS manual v8 before and it was comfy and nice and quick. What can you guys say about the HQ's and that?

Cheers for the help! hopefully ill get the right vehicle!

Agreed. Whilst the HQ is a nice looking peice of ute, The VS will be a lot nicer to drive. If your looking for a V8 Manual ute, youll might find one for about nine grand. However ive seen a few go for 10-11.

Is a VG out of the question? Might find a decent one and have some change left over.

VR/VS Utes will be more comfortable and more fuel efficient.

A HQ will hold its value though. But the HQ's were quite slow with the 253 and even the 308 in comparison to a VR/VS 5L. Even the old 350's were slow to 100 and a manual if you find one is only a 4 speeder and the auto's were only 3 speeders, with only the 350's getting the decent TH400 3 speeder.

Perhaps look at some WB's if you can find some 308's. Still slow but more common and better price than a HQ.

What do you do for a crust?
If you're towing at all i wouldn't buy a commodore ute, period.
I've owned a few utes now and can honestly say that work wise if you're after a good allround ute you can't go past the falcons. They're tough and still comfortable to drive and like the gas better.I had one for three years (before that it was my brothers) and it never let me down.Had a vs ute for 6 months but got rid of it, comfort was ok but too light in the ass end imo.
Having said that, my rodeo is the best thing i've owned but it suits me better for my job so depends on what you're doing.

Rxactly mate. It all depends on your job, as stated above. Perhaps a Hilux/Rodeo ould be better suited? But as others have said, the Falcons are great for comfort, n for running on gas etc
