hey troy i went to supercheap in tuggeranong and got one, it looks seriously like childrens clay in an off white colour it comes with a spray detailer. and you just spray the detailer on the car and rub the claybar over where its wet. then just buff dry with a microfibre cloth, you can feel the contaminents when first rubbing then it will become smooth. cost me 30 bucks for the kit.

I think there was a thread that Airstrike started on this topic a while ago.

    WHAT IS IT?

It is a clay bar, with the help of quick detailer it helps clean the paint.

    HOW DO I USE IT?

Spray on the quick detailer and rub the clay bar over the surface. Keep it wet and don't let it dry while using the clay bar cos it can mark the paint. Don't stress if it does it can be cleaned off. Wipe off the quick detailer and repeat in small sections till the entire panel is done. Then polish it and finish with a wax. Your paint will be smooth (result of the clay bar) and really glossy too.

    WHERE CAN I GET IT?

Most auto part stores. Super Cheap, Auto Barn, Repco etc.

    HOW MUCH SHOULD I PAY?

    Can't remember but between $20-$30 I think

    IS IT WORTH IT?

Definately. I used it on my car before I got the respray and it was amazing how much better it looked. I washed it and thought it was clean until I used the clay bar, it picked up so much more stuff that a normal wash couldn't pick up like little things that stick to the paint. Well worth the money

It's a clay that quickly and easily removes surface contaminations such as bugs, tar, tree sap, brake dust, paint overspray etc. which helps to restore a smooth feel to your cars paint work and make it shine

    1. Thoroughly clean and dry the car to remove any dirt or dust on the surface of the car.
    2. Ensure that the surface you are using the clay on is cool, and not in direct sunlight.
    3. Mould the detailing clay into a flat layer that is comfortable to hold in your hand.
    4. Spray the surface to be clay bared with a lubricant such as Meguiar’s Quick Detailer (comes in the Meguiar’s Quik Clay Detailing Kit) or water.
    5. On the lubricated surface rub the clay back and fourth applying medium pressure, if the surface begins to dry out apply some more lubricant.
    6. Keep rubbing with the clay until all surface contaminations are gone.
    7. Wipe any clay residue off with a microfiber cloth
    8. Now you are ready to polish or wax your car.

Any automotive store such as Autobarn, Autopro, Repco and Superchaep Auto should stock it

My Local Autopro sells the Meguiar’s kit for around the $35 mark, but you should get it cheaper because I live in the country

It is defiently worth it if you want to remove any of the surface contaminants mentioned earlier and bring back the cars natural shine

My personal favourite is a clay bar made by 3M. It's a 200gram bar that you can divide up and lasts for ages. I think the mothers and Meguiars ones are 85gram bars. By the way, if you drop the bar on the ground it's ruined and you'll have to throw it away.

Yup - the second it touches anything other than your hand or your car, it never touches your car again. BIN IT!
