I`m a newby to this site, but plan to fit 19x8" xhp sabres to my VZ Acclaim Wagon. Presently it has 15" factory alloys and i`m curious as to how so many VZ`s out there go with their insurance company, RAC especially, cheers for future replies.
There are alot of threads on this already, so give the search funtion a try.
Legally you can go to ANY WHEEL SIZE you want as long as the overall rim and tyre diameter stays within 15mm of the the rim and tyre combination listed on your vehicles tyre placard.
Basically bigger rim = smaller tyre. Also the normal rules apply regarding tyre load and speed ratings etc. but you could even fit 20's if you wanted to so it IS legal and there should be no issues with insurance.
On a side note... There are enough cars with XHP Sabres as it isChoose something more unique.
I've got 20s on my vl, but to stay on the good side of the law, You can only go 2" bigger then the stock wheels from the factory
No you cant. I have quoted the law hundreds of times on this forum and I am really getting sick of people then saying the exact opposite. You can only go 2" bigger than the largest wheel listed on the tyre placard in SA.... And SA ONLY (well maybe NT).
Every other state in Australia, it does not matter. You can go as big as you like and for the OP that includes WA.
