i check my oil every few days and my temp never goes over 1/2 way, but this morning i checked my oil and it is a bit milky, Holden 5L by the way, but yesterday i degreased and squirted my motor clean then blow dried it with the air compressor, so i was wondering if it was possible that water somehow got into the motor when i cleaned it.
i also run coolant, so would there be a greenish colour if it was from the radiator, there is no greenish colour now.

Check the head gasket mate
i'm scared that's what it is, and i need my car, i can't afford to have it off the road. but like i said above wouldn't it be greenish milk, it's not very much either, and it just seems a coincidence. after i squirted it off
No, the colour would be a milky white. The green dye in the coolant doesn't stay green once it comes in contact with the oil.
well i just went for a drive, then checked the oil when i got back, and it looks a lot clearer, i think it might have just got in the oil when i squirted it off, i hope anyway, fingers crossed, it should all evaporate out if that's the case
Could it be the inlet manifold gaskets as well?
Drop the oil, replace it, if it does it again, you have issues.

how the hell can i own an EA and an EB falcon inline 6 and not have milky oil ever in them, then buy a holden 5L and it happens, unbeleivable
i actually just cam in from checcking the oil again, and it is clean there a bit of white crap still under the oil cap but i rekon the water somehow got in the engine when i squirted it with high pressure, and after a drive it evapourated
well thats what your going to have to hope, drop the oil, take it for a drive with new stuff and c if its milky

yeah, i don't have any fresh oil and it's a 30km drive to get some.
push bike lol??

ok i just went and started it and got it to about 1/4 on the temp gauge, and i felt the radiator hoses and they were tight when i squeezed them, is that normal, i can't remember ever squeezing them before.
also there is no bubbles when i run it without the radiator cap on. it doesn't misfire, and the oil appears to be back to normal colour,
how tight are we talking?? i jst ran mine and squeezed them, they moved about 5mm before i had to take my hand away due to heat. is the oil black, gold or milky.

the oil is a gold colour, and the hose i could squeese it about 5mm, it's probably normal, but when the radiator cap was off and the car running the coolant kept rising and over flowing,
the overflow is just from the temp increasing and the water expanding. if u leave the cap off and warm the motor it will start to **** steam and water/coolant.
the oil sounds like a good colour again which is very weird, i would still get new oil (somehow lol) and c wot happens.

Just drive in and get oil instead of running it all the time or get a mate to bring some out is the oil milky at the filler or on the dipstick ? either way something aint rite even if it got inthere wile ya were washing it.
it's now just a little bit milky under the filler cap, i'll see what goes with it.
i had this happen to my vh i had a lot of milky build up under my cap i cleaned and changed the oil and never had a problem again. What i'm saying is don't get to worried about it if it seems fine now. Get some new oil change it and check after a while. Most of the time when a head gasket goes you can tell somethings wrong. If anything i'd say it'll be a leaking inlet manifold gasket.
nah the bit under the cap hasn't gone away, it's only a light sort of coating, i will chnge the oil and see what happens, there's really no signs of a blown head gasket no bubbles in coolant, no misfiring, although it does seem to idle slower than usual it stalled on me yesterday. but i might need to reset the idle control thing, i can't remember if i did after disconnecting the battery last time i did
i just discovered on the right rocker cover on the inside of it, i couldn't see any gasket, so i got a small flat bit of steel and poked it in the gap between the rocker cover and the head and discovered part of the gasket was pushed in, from the high pressure water and the air compressor i blew it dry with it must have got pushed in, i also discovered the bolts holding the rocker cover down were loose, and one of the bolt holes in the gasket didn't have the bolt pass through it (that's where it was pushed in). so i pulled it off and set the gasket right, so now i change the oil when i get some and it should be sweet, it all makes sense now, it seemed to much of a coincidence after cleaning it.
so cheers for all the help, i appreciate it.
