Default WHAT SHOULD I PUT MY 49cc MOTOR IN

hello ladies and gents. i have recently been given a brand new 49cc 2 stroke motor and am wanting to start a project with it. it was in one of those pocket bikes, but after about 50 seconds use......................... well lets just say the pocket bike could not be recognized anymore lol. so i was thinking either a scooter. or making up some kind of clutch for it and putting it in a remote control car or boat. the reason i have to make up a clutch if i put it in the remote control car is because otherwise i have no way of stopping it as it is direct drive. wat do you guys reckon. any suggestions welcome.

A mate of mine put one into a remote control car back when i was in school, he never quite finished it, but it did work, the just hadnt fully worked out the steering or somthing, but it was really good, and was damn quick!!!
A scooter would be pretty cool too, if you would use it.
Dunno what else you could put it in, pretty gutless motor...

wouldn't it just have used the same steering it previously had? lol i wouldnt go as far as saying its a gutless motor, when you see a 90kg person sitting on the back of a 10kg bike, flying past you at about 40km/h your kind of impressed lol. and it is to be transfered into something that weighs like 1-2kg. i could see it going ok lol. cheers for the help

Yeah, but i meant, the motor is good for tiny things like that, any thing else and its not very good.
And the motor my mate used was not off a pocket bike, and even if it was how could you use the steering off the pocket bike for a remote control 4 wheel car?
    That makes no sense....

A remote control car or boat would be good, but a scooter would be cool to.

no clutch? direct drive? the 49cc cag motor in my pocket bike has a bell housing and centrifugal clutch bolted to the side of it. its stock so fairly low stall but does the job actually havnt ridden it for a while because it literally falls apart (crappy welds) and havnt got a welder on hand to much around with it. in other words.. ATBOARD.ORG.THE #1 GROUP FOR ALL TERRAIN BOARDING.ALL TERRAIN KITE BOARDING.SPEEDBOARDING. DOWNHILL/LONGBOARD SKATEBOARDING

you need a handheld throttle control of some sort... steering isn't really required..... maybe somewhere to hook your feet in as the weight of the motor might be a bit much then you could board up steep hills and get MASSIVE m.x. spec air on a skateboard thing

There would be a formluae somewhere to figure the stabilizer speed VS lift rotor speed. Hobby shops should be able to help here. Probably have all the gearing to make it an easier job....

well you know if its direct drive if you have to push start it and cant stop without it stalling a centrifugal clutch will allow a stall and engauge as you give it some throttle.

you can get those little motors pretty quick! I dont know what their like stock because before I even started it for the first time I pulled the motor apart and modified it Currently has an advanced timing key, triple stage reeds, little pod filter, sanded piston head, smaller rear sprocket and a 1/4 turn throttle. plus the broken top engine mount, cracked exhaust header and broken rear exhaust mount from all the excessive vibration!

I want one of these pocket bikes now, but if I get one I wont have anywhere to keep in a couple of months. Ill probably stack it real bad by then and it wont be worth keeping anyway so theres nothing to worry bout

if you want one, spend a bit more and get a propper one. I fix mine more than I ride it whenever I ride I carry tools in my pockets.

But they are fun for racing local traffic and get alot of funny faces

it wouldnt work in a chopper unless u had like a 6 foot wingspan as the engine has to really rev hard...

and to put in it a r/c car youd have to be looking at 1/5th scale or bigger to get it all fitting properly

sabby i dont need to get my beer to follow me everywhere i go, coz i can just ring mum and ask her to bring it to me.

vldavo, yeah the chopper looks like hard work so i think i would give it a miss. and i was looking at what sized r/c car and your right to properly fit it in, its going to have to be a decent size.
