well today i went into supercheap to use up my $100 gift voucher i got for chrissy and ended up gettin a set of those kc v6 rocker covers, now they only had one set left and they were on display so they had to put them back into the box and when they were doing that managed to break one of the gaskets inside, now i only realised this when i got home so i went straight back to either get a new gasket or get my money back. What ****ed me off is that they claimed that when they put them back into the box it was done carefully which is a load of crap because i could see the broken gasket before i took anything out the box, they didnt have any replacement gaskets in the shop so they said they could order some in which would cost me an extra $22, or they could give me my money back minus the $22 which really gave me the ****s. now $22 isnt much but i paid $140 for the covers so i had to spend $40 of my own money to buy em, so i aint gonna spend an extra 22 just cause some useless emplyee F'd up.
So thats my rant if anyone cares, so im prob never goin to supercheap anymore cause of this, it just really ****s me that they would make me pay for one of there stuffups and they didnt even take responsibility for it.
HMMMMMMMMMMMM
So i'm not alone, every time i go into supercheap to buy something,i find that if they dont have it they try to sell ya something that wont do the job,i dont mind a suggestion, but when some little snot nose brat stands toe to toe with me and argues with me NO THANKS.

So did you keep the covers or take the cash minus $22 ?
thats low of them. though they probably dont care if they lose one customer. they shouldve ordered you another one free of charge. but in saying that, you got them cheap as, so just go buy a gasket from autobarn or something(yes, we can get them in from kilkenny). did you speak to one of the employees or a manager or boss?
im keepin the covers, ill either try to use the original gaskets or look for somewhere else for gaskets
Erm, they have no choice but to refund you the full amount.
They cannot deny you the refund. Contact consumer affairs, they will tell you all you need to know.

Not really the same, but I go to Repco a lot coz a family member works there so I get staff discount. I needed an exhaust and inlet manifold gasket for my L300 van, the manager served me and he couldn't find anything on the computer, then he looked in the books and said there wasn't anything listed for it so they can't get them. I went around the corner to AutoPro, and minutes later I walked out with one coz they had one on the shelf. I went back to Repco and got served by someone else, who looked up on the computer again and found the gaskets I needed, they even had them out the back on the shelf lol.
Another time I asked them about gasket scrapers. The guy said the only way they could get them would be a 'buy-in', where ya gotta pay like an extra $20 to get it from the supplier, he didn't even look it up on the computer to see who had any. So I went and got one off eBay.....2day I was in there bludging enjoying the aircon, and I decided to look through a few books. I found a part number for a gasket scraper, and turns out there's a few other stores which have them in stock.
But yeah most of the workers there aren't to bad, just a few are pretty lazy and dunno wat they're doing. And b4 yous say y don't I go somewhere else, it's coz when I do get stuff from there it's normally heaps cheap, that's the only thing that gets me back there.

Was needing a new 1/2 drive ratchet. The stuff in supercheap looked horrible. Went to REPCO and there was nothing on the shelves, had 1/4 in , and were out of the 1/2 in, or only the ones with the big grips on them which are useless if you need to put an extension pipe over them for leverage.
Asked the guy behind the desk if there was anything out the back.......he went and rummaged around, then came back intothe shop, went and got a brand new socket set, cut it open and handed me the ratchet inside for $20 when the same non existent stock on the shelf was priced at $50, and a quality tool it was(name escapes me for the moment)........I was impressed......his reply....no probs, well just order in another one to replace it. Havent been in a shop where they have done something like that to help out the customer in a long time.
i find that supercheap where i go have staff that dont know crap about car's
and the autobarn guy's are tool's stuck up lil **** heads lmao told me that bosskit's are only for jap car's! (nearly punched on over the argumeant with the manager)

LOL that reminds me of when I was in the Supercheap Auto in Whyalla waiting at the counter to be served and a guy asked if they could get a lifter for a Kingswood and one of the guys that worked there said "oh yeah we have a few in stock, Ill be back in a minute" and when he came back he was holding a trolly jack, I almost ****ed myself laughing![]()
most of the people @ my supercheap are rude pricks to! i never go there anymore unless its absolutely neccesary!
Explain something to me, maybe I'm a bit slow, but are you saying they wouldn't give you the $22 back for the gaskets they damaged or that they wanted an extra $22 to place an order for the new gasket? If your saying they wouldn't give you the $22 back for the gaskets then you're the silly bugger who walked out of the store without getting your money back. You stand your ground and demand your money back. They can't deny you if they sold you 'faulty' goods.

Haha wow more stories about Superhceap. I went in a few days ago to get a new thermostat, thermo housing and the gaskets. They had a bunch of guys there who wouldnt know an oil filter from a tyre iron. They had no gaskets on the shelves that suited what i needed so they went and got me gaskets from something else i cant remember what they were. But they handed me the pack and i read it and i said it says here they fit a EL Ford. he shrugged and walked off.
If your going to be employing people are a store that sells car parts and car accessories you should hire employees that know atleast the basics about cars.
I usually head to Bursons or Repco for parts that im not 100% sure on what it is i need and where i have to ask questions to find a product. I go to supercheap for my cleaning products and basic service stuff.
I find that the Autobhan near me have pretty good people who are car fanatics. I never go to supercheap anymore.
agreed about autobarn. they seem to know more. some staff at my local one take a look out the window at my car and ask if its blown or turbo, from then i can have a decent conversation with them.
i remember going to supercheap asking for a t piece for an oil pressure switch. they guy gives me some plastic T piece for a vacuum hose.

haha yeh all those little yr 9 employees from supercheap aye... i dont even bother talking to any of them anymore, i just go in, knowing what i have to get then pay for it and walk out. if there is something i am unsure on or supercheap dont have it, i drive up the road to autopro or repco. at least those places employ people with a little bit of knowledge about cars
yeah when i was in there and there was three young females and one guy and i doubt any of them would have any decent knowledge about cars, now im just gonna go to auto1 or repco up the road which ive been to before and they seem to know a bit more about cars and stuff
My local Supercheap is staffed by nangers as well, half the time you don't even get a greeting when you walk up to the counter
Was in there the other day and another customer was getting frustrated because the kid serving didn't have a clue what he was on about, this guy leaves and the kid is bagging him to the other employee at the register while people were waiting to be served
Unfortunately it's the most convienent auto store as I can walk there in a few minutes (so handy if I need something extra when working on a car or I accidently break something or lose a bolt or something) otherwise I wouldn't be returning
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
Ahh, it must be a policy to hire anyone Aust wide. I was talking to a bloke only a couple of days ago and he had just come back from the local supercheap store. He went in and asked the KID there where was the Silicone was. The kid just looked at him and said "What's Silicone". The guy nearly fell over that the staff have no idea whatsoever about the stuff they sell there.
Has anyone ever complained directly to Supercheap about the staffing problems. The only way things will improve is if you make it known to them.

It's probably part of their plan to keep costs down. You can get away with paying unskilled employees less money.
(but having said that, I don't know what Supercheap pays compared to Autobarn, Bursons, Repco, etc.)
