Default Deciding between a VT and VS

    Gday,

Just wondering what I should be getting out of the holden VT and VS. Origionally I just wanted a VT but have Relised I want a manual and VT manuals are hard to come by. I'v seen a fair few VS commodores though just wondering if there is a big differnce in handling and peformance?

    thanks

ok having owned 3 vs's a vt and a vx the vt/vx seems a much better build quality/more confortable to drive than the vs and an overall newwer feel quite simular to vy/vz series if you pick one up with low k's.

i like the looks of the vt's but they are a sluggish and starting to get a bit old in the tooth, perhaps try and get a vx. our vx had a significant improvement of performance.

vs's on the other hand where quite quick light great handling cars and are easy on the eye if you pick up a mint one also seeing as your after performance as long as you dont land yourselve behind the wheel of a stato nice to look at inside and out but handle like **** and are sluggish.

I was facing the same problem a while ago myself... ended up getting a vs..just have to weigh pro's and cons i guess.
I personally didn't want a vt becuase to me they are to "bubbly" looking and look like most other newer commodores that are absolutely everywhere buzzing around and to me are just boring!
Although you'll have a lot less problems with a vt being the newer make, from what i've noticed the vs is quicker..and if u want a con, a vs will consume less petrol then a vt

I love my vs and im happy with my choice of picking one up over a later vt, lighter, so far cheaper and **** easy to source parts for, esp if ur looking into modifying it down the track..and if u can get one with a good clean body they look awesome.

lol..i know, i was after a manual..but in the end had to settle for an auto cos i couldn't find a clean body with the right colour that i wanted.. and all the manuals i could find were unfortunately thrashed to ****.

IMO i would go a VT yeah they might not be as quick, though they are more comfortable and a newer car, though at the end of the day if you want a faster car, and arnt worried about having a newer car go the VS still a great car, or as evil_monkey said get a VX, very nice car....

Depends what you want it for, personally i prefer VS', i think they are a nicer shape, although the VT interior is nicer, but its not hard to put vt or later seats in a VS.
VS will be cheaper and quicker, manuals will be hard to find no matter what model vs or vt, and you will be stung a lot mroe than an auto for a manual

They have pretty much the same mechanical spec, but in a sexier body of a VS. VT of too roundish and slow as a pig.

Before I got my VS I was deciding to go for a VT and test drove both cars. The vs is much quicker and handles a lot better. But to get them handle well you need to spend a little bit of $$ on the suspension side of things because due to the age of these cars they can be a bit worn.

I would go VS or VX, a VT would never cross my mind. Grab a nice VX if you can afford it, or look for a mint condition VS.

You can find Manual VS and VT's. i looked for 3 months and found one and one of my mates managed to find a VT manual. Mine absolutly eats his off the line and corners better. i also find the VS to be a more comphy car. And they look nicer :P

Unless you're building a performance car, I'd go VT or VX, preferably VX as its a newer car, and by then they'd fixed a lot of the problems that VTs had. They're heavier, yes, but they're more comfortable, and IMHO just a much nicer car.

In theory, the VS should be a better car, as it was the end of the series. The VT was the first of that series and had a few teething problems.

The engine is only a small part of it, and it was a revision anyway.

[QUOTE=Simonn;687229]whats wrong with the VT gearbox? [QUOTE]
They don't seem to be as nice to drive. The T5 has a better feel over the Getrag.
