    Default Engine/trans weight

does anybody have a rough idea what a 308 & trans weights. going to buy a block and tackle so that i can do engine swaps in the garage. just wondering if 500kg is going to be big enough or if i need to get the 1000kg one

    cheers

i would guess it would be less than 500 kg. a VN only weighs less than 1500 kg in total.

they already put a factor of safety in the equipment rating, so there's really no need to put another one in yourself and buy the bigger one.

Just the engine, without accessories but with manifolds, is around 230kg. The transmission, not sure but 50kg would be a reasonable guess.
