    Default VT or VZ Commodore?

hey im new to this forums. just wanted to ask you lot if i shud get a VT or VZ? im buying a first car, so i dont have experience in owning any of these two cars before or modifying them. VZ is obviosly newer and all, but there something about lowering a VT, taking of the spoiler of, giving it some shiney rims and a paintjob and it looks so sexy. i jus cant imagine the VZs looking anything close to as sexy as that. infact i completly hate the mitsubishi look. no amount of money can make that look sexy in MY opinion, not bagging it or ne one elses. but how the cars performance wise? the vt supercharged are a beast from wat ive seen. vz aperantly doesnt have a supercharged. so money aside, what car do yous think is better all round? i am planning on modifying them engine wise aswell.

VZ's look a hell of a lot better than VT's. I'd take the VZ over the VT regardless of performance. Even if it is a first car. What state are you in? Are you able to drive a FI car? Is it worth getting one straight away when insurance will cost you a snot load?

This coming from someone whos pride and joy was a dumped VX... lol

I agree with Minux and Jesterarts, I would also go for the VZ. VZ's look so much better than VT's.

if you want a supercharged 6 go the VY, one of my favorite commodores are the S and SS VY series 1 in that hothouse green. my dad owned a supercharge VY S, i had the chance to buy it when he was getting rid of it but i was in the market 4 an ss ute but then i quit my job and thus didnt need a ute but by then it was too late and he already sold it

was going to spend like not much more than a grand on the engine, ie smaller pully, ss cai, exhaust etc that would get it to ls1 power quite easily. it also had the 2.5 k optional black leather seats (drools)

A standard VT is a slug, so V6 vs V6 the VZ wins hands down... V8 vs V8 the VZ again wins hands down. However there is no supercharged alloytec just the high output version which won't give the same bang for your buck performance... But if you want performance why not go a V8 anyway?

Also the VT is a **** of a car... Skip it completely and get a VX!

Why is it limited to VT and VZ? What about VX and VY?

i have a VT but when i see a VY or VZ dumped on rims i cant stop looking. they just look so much tougher than the vt. go the VZ mate colour code the bumpers and mirors and side strip and lower it on any rims (but not chrome) and you will be set.

not going V8 because of fuel prices. supercharged probably eats abit more fuel then standered V6 but i dont think its near as much as a V8. Yeah im thinking about the VX now to. i dont like the new holdens body thats why im leaning towards the VXs and VTs. but i dont want a 'slug' either. what about vx supercharged vs VZ V8?

Super6 will chew just as much as an 8. The LS1 once tuned has great economy. Plus nothing beat the sound of an 8. If i were you i'd look for a nice Silver VY SS. Beautiful looking car

As an example of the fuel economy on the VT:
    Supercharged V6 Automatic: 13.5 / 7.8 (L/100km)
    V8 5.7L Automatic City/Highway: 13.0 / 8.5 (L/100km)

So as you can see the supercharged 6 uses more around town than the 5.7L V8. A VZ V8 will be much, much quicker than a super 6 anyway.

My opinion is forget VT. Look at a Supercharged VX (more power than the VT super 6 anyway) or a VX SS if you decide based on shape... If you go for performance and the overall better car rather than your personal taste on shape then go for a VZ SS or a VY Supercharged 6 if thats what you're after. The VZ SS will be easily the quickest and overall best car of the lot.

I'd go VZ...by the time the VZ came out most of the problems had been rectified, plus they do look damn sexy. If you prefer the VT look, consider a VX Series II...by VXII they had sorted out a lot of the problems the VTs had, IIRC.

go with what u want mate. as for people talking about all the faults and that, honestly if you take the time to look around and do the research and buy a car that is in good condition and has low kays your not going to have a problem. if u thrash the crap out of a VZ it aint going to last long and the same as every other car made. If u like the VT then shop around, dont thrash it and look after it with reg services and ull be fine.

if you get a vt you get a lower seating position and faster turning steering rack. other wise get the nicer looking vy unless you want the more powerful vz (6cyl) with the uglier squarer nose......
