Question Why do you own your commodore?

First off, I would like to start by saying I am new to this board (this is my first post even) but I thought this would be a fun and interesting thread.

A couple of days ago a girl asked me why I owned a commodore, when everyone else my age (im 17) is all about toyotas and hondas. I couldnt answer her question - but it got me thinking. It wasnt till today that i realized the answer to that question.
I took my beat up looking (although in excellent mechanical conditon - elderly couple owned it since new before i got it) and entirely base model VR executive 3.8/auto out for a run down a country road this afternoon - and it was like nothing else on earth. After driving my holden I hate driving anything else - every car I am just seems so gutless and stupid. I just get such a buzz whenever Im in my commodore that I wouldnt trade it for anything in the world.

So, Why do you own a commodore?

Coz its was cheap and a decent deal... Honestly lol. I had a 1998 Magna and dad said I can swap him the Magna for the Commodore plus $2000, so I agreed, mainly coz it is on gas.

I grew up in a family full of Holden Fanatics. The only time Fords got mentioned was when they were being made fun of so a Commodore (Its actually a Toyota but don't tell anyone ) was the obvious choice.

It was the only car at the time in my price range that could fit a twin pram in the boot, two baby capsules in the back seat, and me not having my knees up near my ears when I drove it. But it is time to go, http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...s-acclaim.html.

i'm starting to wonder why i like my commodore...grrr

but yes initially, all family cars and dads utes have been commodores. it was cheap, went hard and at 6"3' i like a roomy car.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.

I like my car because it has pretty decent looks, bang for buck, usually pretty reliable and when something breaks its a common part found on the shelves of Repco, and it was said before, they are quite roomy, being 6 foot 4 its a nice fit. In reference to something the original poster said, when i went away on holiday i was driving some Nissan around, mum picked me up at the airport in my car and i drove home, was so happy to sit back in the seat of it.

i prefer holdens over fords, better driving, better pedal response(accell. and brake), my dads a ford man, but i'm a holden man, this is my 4th commy, had a vk 2 start with efi 202, then a vr 3.8, then bought a 4wd and a project vk calais 5ltr 5spd, then decided to get rid of the 4wd and the vk and get the vy ss, always wanted a commy with v8 and electrics, plus there cheap, easy to work on and have good power.

Imagine what you'll be like when you get behind the wheel of a manual V8 then

Got the wagz for a number of reasons, firstly it fits all of my DJ/PA gear in nicely so going to a gig i don't have to play Tetris to get everything to fit like I did with my old hatchback

Secondly it's got great scope for upgrades, enhancements, etc as with VN-VS wagons being pretty much the same interior wise (excluding door trims and dash obviously...) and exterior wise (excluding front end treatments of course) I can get parts easily and the local wrecker is bound to have the part I need, etc

Lastly it has pretty good economy for a large car and has enough poke as a daily driver to keep me happy and it cruises at highway speeds beautifully, not bad for a couple of hundred bucks
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
