Air Bag Steering wheel splitting

Has anyone experienced airbag steering wheels splitting?
Have a friend who has a VZ and around the lion badge there is a spit big enough to actually see the air bag.
The car yard wants nothing to do with them.
Holdens are not up for making a comment.
It probably is of not much concern apart from the fact it cosmetically looks dangerous and if in the event of an accident the air bag may incorrectly deploy.
Any comments??

if the car is under warrenty holden will cover it, i had the fuse panel cover under the steering colum replaced as it hung down on one side where it most likley had the clip broken off it,

if they dont come to the party, ring the customer assistance and give them the details of the dealer, your cars info to pressure them that way, apparently that works
