    Default need some diff help

im taking apart some diffs in my backyard, trying to get 3.45s out of a vl diff and putting them into a vn lsd.
ive got the centre out of the vl diff, but need some advice on how to get the bolts off the crown wheel, and how to get the pinion out. any ideas?

Use a rattle gun for the crown wheel bolts, makes it a lot easier.....and not sure how to get the pinion out....don't ya just undo the bolt on the outside in the middle of it then it pushes out or sumfin?

from memory the bolts for the crown wheel are left hand thread. to remove the diff center from housing i use a pry bar, wedge against the face of the pinion and you can push the whole carrier out easy. undo the pinion bolt before before removing the diff carrier, that way you can use the brakes on the car to stop the diff turning. that sucker is real tight.

for the pinion, remove the large nut in the tail shaft flange, remove the flange, pull the seal out and knock the pinion through, so it will come out through the casing, tip as stated before its easier to remove the nut with the centre in and brakes applied, if it out try to wedge a large metal bar through the holes in the flange onto the housing somwhere

while the pinion is out it might pay to replace the pinion bearings, you will need a press for that though,

when you replace the pinion you should get a new collapsable spacer so your can set the pinion pre-load back to specs,
