    Default vz airbags

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if airbags can be repacked after an accident or do they have to be replaced. If so any idea on cost for either option? what about seat belt pre tensioners do they need replacing if the air bags are deployed. Thanks.

i thought it was more, like around $1500 mark? thats why most cars are writen-off when the airbags are deployed becuase its so expensive to replace them / repack

Seat belt pretensioners need replacing as well, the gas cylinders in them fire when the air bags are deployed.

did the steering wheel a/bag fug all the above when it went off?

air bags cant be repacked and if it did id say it would be nearly illegal and highly dangerous, once its gone off its dead chuck it away

The SRS (Supplementary Restraint System) of the car comprises of more than just the airbag. When the sensors detect the right conditions for deployment of the SRS, it all activates, ei: airbag, seatbelt pretensioners and depending on the car, force limiters. The airbag effectively destroys the steering wheel, the pretensioners are in the retractor assembly. The force limiters are part of the retractors. The seat belt stalks are a precautionary measure, the latch mechanism can be damaged in a impact so some car manufacturers recommend they are replaced.

over here in NZ i have been advised for a VY exec if the airbags deploy it is a $3000+ job just to replace the drivers side and pasenger side bags and seatbelt equipment so i hate to think how much it would cost if u had side air bags that went off, bye bye seats?

no way. an airbag is through after it's deployed. you shouldn't reuse the seatbelts either, the load limiter, inertia reel and pre tensioners will most likely be screwed too.

    it all needs replacing.

it will start economic write of vy's soon if not now,

i know of a vy adventra that was written off only becaue the airbags where $13,000+ and other repair needed

side airbags stuff the seats as that is where the airbag assembly is located
