was driving the car along n noticed my fuel guage dropping down quite fast..looked back and pretty much there was anout 30L of petrol on the road...i was just assuming a hose may have come loose but wasnt sure if i could cause that much to come out at one time...any ideas?
Have you had a look? Should be able to tell where it is coming from.
Sounds more like the tank split and gave out really fast, but I'm sure you know about that.
Is 30L really a full tank?
probably got a hole in the tank
thought it might be more, thread title had me guessing though!
havent had to chance to look at it yet but it down at my mates workshop...happened to be under there the other night and didnt see any huge hole in it...hopefully just a welding job
or a split in the fuel hose. that ****es out real quick

i hope not, i can see the head lines,
a fool welding a petrol tank which suddenly exploded and killed several people in the close vicinity.....
the only way you could weld a tank which has contained something highly flammable would be to steam it out but even then i would be hesitant about it

much cheaper/easier to get a replacement tank. I got one in really good condition from the wreckers for $70. Quick change over as well (VR Wagon)
When I first got my VT this happened to me, but I didn't notice until I got home to my driveway and smelt the petty. Stuck my head under and found someone broke the clips that secure the fuel lines on to the fuel filter and had just fitted them best as they could with cable ties.
So I just got some fuel hose from Bursons and some clamps and ditched the original fuel lines altogether. So perhaps check your fuel lines at the tank and fuel filter as I lost probably a 1/4 tank from this.
if its full of water than i cant see a problem, but you would have water ****ing out the hole your trying to fill with a weld,
if the tanks full of petrol, when you hit it with the welder the fuel will vaporize from the heat and then go kaboom, then you also have 59litres of fuel ready to burn while having petrol **** out the hole your trying to weld
