Default short shifter yes or no?

    Hi,
I have a VY Series1 SS. I was wondering if it would be worth getting a HSV short shifter? Or is it better to get like a JHP rip shift shifter? Or any others?

Also, are they easy to install?

    Thanks,
    Adam

I had a ripshift in my car, it was good, but very noisy. I have now put a B&M short shifter in. OMG how much better does it feel and sound. Also the throw is a lot smaller than the ripshift.

Installation can be a pain, but the main thing you need to make it a lot easier is a hoist.

    Hope this helps.

I got it from SPS in Mildura. It was $495. You actually have to get underneath the car between the gearbox and the floor pan. If you need one I will ask an exact price and delivery for you. I'll also try and get a photo of it tonight for you.

The price for the shifter including delivery is $450. It's also a billet shifter (sorry for the mis guidance). I sent photos to my work email this morning, but they havent turned up yet. When they do I'll post them for you to see.

Hey djm01, i've done a bit of reading and lots of people recommend going for the ripshift over the stock HSV shifter which has made me thing twice about going for a stock holden shifter. So the billet is a lot better than the ripshift yeah? I tried to find opinions on the billet but nothing as yet...
Just one further question, did you attach your original shifter bit to the billet shifter or get a shorter one? I just want to know if the gear knob will sit lower or at normal height.

    Thanks.

You only need your gear knob. The billet shifter is adjustable, so the further you adjust down, the shorter the shift. So it really depends on you as to how you like the look and the feel.

And I agree about the waste of money it would be for a hsv one. When you put one of these in, you'll love it.

Okay mate thanks for the help. I don't have the money right now but should have it in a few weeks hopefully, got some other things i have to buy... i'll do a little more reading and see whether i decide to go ripshift or billet. Also, SPS in mildura, will they give me the price $450 delivered or was that exclusively to you because you've purchased from them in the past?

    Thanks again

It was exclusively to me, but they said $475 delivered to you. I hope this is ok. Anyway let me know.
