    Default Lowering cost

    Ebay: $235 + 28 postage (King Springs Super lows x 4)
    Ebay:$120 shortened monroe shockies (rear)
    Install front springs: $100-120 (quoted)

Opinions on the prices appreciated, can anyone beat that maybe or point me somewhere cheaper? Cheers.

Did you need front shocks? If going lower would probably be a good idea.

    Have you seen this:
    Commodore Lowering Kits!

I personally would never use Monroe in my own car, but plenty do and are happy with it. KYB are the undisputed best bang for you buck shocks when lowering though.

umm, for the moment ill keep the stock shocks on the front until I can afford to replace the fronts too, i'm only going superlows so from what i've read this will be fine. KYB eh, thanks mate, what do others think, KYB > monroe shockies?

I have monroe shortened shocks in the rear of my VS, when i have a full load, everytime a bumpy road comes all i see is my back seat passengers bouncing around as if i've got hydrolic suspension in the rear =/

im thinking of investing in different branded shocks, mind you that the rear shocks and springs have only done around 20,000 kms.

do those ebay prices include postage?

ok then, cheers ridah, i guess monroe are a no go. Springs $235 plus postage $28 to WA. The shockies were from the same guy so i'm guessing the postage for them would be zip.

Worth getting KYB shockies off ebay or just buy them locally?

Personally suspension is not a component on your car you want to cheap out on, go for the King Springs they are a renown brand, and are a trusted product. With the shockers talk to a few different people, Im running kings Super Low and Pedders shockers in the rear and i cant complain, yeah its bumpy but its not a jolting ride as ive heard from monroe.

Also, as i said before, you dont want to cheap out on your suspension... Im not sure i would be trusting ebay with an important component of my car...

they are king springs that i'll be getting on my hands bro, unless they're a rip off or something like that, but the seller feedback seems good.

Im more worried about 2nd handies that are rooted and just cleaned up heaps, or cut springs made to look like Kings which trust me has happened before.

If you trust him then go for it.

Depends what your after and how much you want to spend.

If you want the car to look low, then just change your springs. If you want you can to handle well, then its gonna get expensive. If your after really good/safe handling then its going to cost a lot.

I just spent ~$1k lowering my VR wagon. That included superlow springs, short struts, new dampers, strut bar and panhard rod. The effect is amazing, the car handles the road perfectly. The ride is actually softer and smoother than the original FE2 setup. Again though, your not going to get this effect for $300....

Hey im not trying to hi-jack the thread, but though there would be no point making another one. If you were looking to lower your car just a tad, not to the extreme; can you just get by with springs. Or do you need to go shocks and what not as well... ?

Yeha, low or super low are normally ok on stock struts etc... Its worth replacing the strut mount bearing though (~$25 each). It will sit lower, but ride a little worse.

Another one for the shocks man, KYB is definitely alot better than Monroe. I got KYB's from GSL and i've been very impressed compared to the Monroes I did have. Same price, much better performance.

I paid $94 each for the fronts and $60 each for the rears but the shocks are for VB-VP, so VS prices may differ.

Definitely contact GSL Rallysport man as their prices are great. For my strut tops, even with postage they were still $50 cheaper than everywhere else I looked.

Boge are a VERY VERY good QUALITY shock, but are more aimed at comfort, than ride and handling. Boge's carry a lifetime warranty, and if it was ya mum's car, Boge's would be a good thing, but they're not quite valved right most of the time to handle higher rate lower springs.

Rears are about the same, but VR-VS uses the full strut type setup as used on VT onwards... Front shocks to suit are $125 each.
