    Default Raising a lowered car?

    Hey guys,

First time poster, long time reader. Hope I'm in the right forum to ask about this.

I had my car (perhaps foolishly) lowered just over 12 months ago, and in the last 6 months it has really really started to bother me, as I am constantly going over speed humps, and dislocating my wonderful exhaust system.

When I got the car lowered I had all new Pedders lowered front struts, lowered rear shocks, bearing plates, and lowered springs at all four corners.

The question I have is, would I be able to pop my old springs back in, and make use of the lowered shocks currently in there? Would this have much affect on the ride? and would it generally be a good idea, or should I 'spring' for a new set of shocks?

    Any help would be great,
    Cheers!

What exhaust system do you have? I have a VR wagon which had the FE2 suspension setup and stock exhaust. It used to scrape on bumps etc as well.

Just recently i upgraded ultra low springs (full setup) and a 3" custom exhaust. The exhaust was designed to sit higher up and doesnt scrape AT ALL. from the Cat back it cost me $350 (i did extractors as well for about $700). Might be worth upgrading your exhaust system to something custom made?

I started out with the stock exhaust, but after around a year or so had managed to knock it up pretty bad. So I had a new exhaust from the cat back fitted, he charged me $240 and I did ask for him to get it to sit as high as possible. However I still have constant problems. I've decided I just wanna go back to a nice practical ride, as my interests have changed.

    Cheers,

Replace your shocks to suit the spring height... going back to standard? Get new shocks to match that height.

Shorter shocks have a shorter throw and wont work efficently with higher rate springs. Thats the short of it.

Dang, I thought that would be the case. Just thought I'd check to see if I could get away with it. Thanks for your advice

Raising a lowered car is much like lowering a raised car, but the opposite.. Your welcome.. take care now, bye bye then...
