Tonight i was driving, as you do, and noticed there was quite a bit of heat coming from the right hand side of the centre console, up under where the footrest is in my VS commodore epuipe. It was very warm to the touch on the plastic, but when i reached up underneath, there is a steel bar or soemthing there, and it was to hot to touch!! Does anybody know what this might be?
I was driving at night, so the headlights and everything else was on at the time, and i am wondering if it is just the relay's and what not getting hot! But i need urgent advice as to what it might be please!!! I have never noticed the heat before, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there
Thankyou in advance
heater was on the footwell setting???

No the heater wasn't on, and it was set to face and on cold...
the heater core (a small radiator) is located where you described coolant from the engine flows through the heater core. on or off. when the fan is switched on this is when it heats the inside of the car blowing air through the core if the fan is not on it does not heat the car but the core is still hot.
