new car what to get???

alrite atm i just got 20k to spend on a car... possibly around 25k if i sell my car fairly soon..

im goin along the lines of vx ss/vx clubsport/vu ute,wh stato/caprice/hsv grange and possibly a vy ss...

so i got a fair bit of choices... oh n it must b a v8 :P

now im only 18 n livin n s.a so i can drive woteva i want, insurance is gonna cost a fortune but that dont matter.

get as new as you can afford, but id go vy ss, vz will probably too much at the moment,


vy is a much better car/package than a vx

if you have theoretically 20 large id look at a vx ss then spend 5 on modifications and go fast gear. LS1s are a phenomonal package and easy to make fast.

6.0 where late so id say it would be out of his price range,

just get the vy, looks better, drives better, has more power if its series 2, shmick instrument cluster too

im gonna be takin my time to find the right car, thers no rush i want this car to b perfect so i cant wait to get this beast never driven a v8, only been in a 5.0L (passenger) so i cant even imagine wots its goin to be like in a ls1 :P

I grew up with cars that had power. I learnt in a ford 4.0lt, bought a vy last year and then my ute. And by power i mean more then your average excel/lancer.

Coming from a 3.8 to a ls1, you'll love it! i remember the first time i gave it the beans and i was speachless. But i reckon you'll get used to the power quickly and will just want to go even harder and tougher lol... like me

My mate here had a VZ SS, Auto, no leather, and Red.

Sold it, Bought a VZ SV8, Manual, Leather, (4 power windows), Black, and i think $3000.



Can't get a better deal than that (Both were the 5.7L, not the 6.0L motor.

just had a quick look on car sales and you could get a nice n tidy vy ss series s2 for around $27 g-units, if you wanna save that little bit more. theres a few, not in SA but around the country for around that price.

As with the vx. if you want a car your going to keep for a while id try n save up for a vy or vz.

cheerz for that banks_vz, wud luv a ute :P i actually found 2 vy ss in adelaide, 1 had 8k spent on the engine and had 320kw for 21k, and another with ve ss rims n exhaust for 22k both on carsales

they were both 100,000km's not to bad for they were 03 models.... as sed above yeh its true i am goin to get wot i want but, i like every holden out ther, ive never driven a newer model then the vx (spak) n also never a 5.7L just tryin to see which of those 5.7L models are good... i sort of leaning 2wards the vy's vz ive had a look at some n ther very nice cars

Why dont you take a drive down to a hsv/holden dealer, have a look around and take a 5.7L and a 6.0L for a test drive.

just abit of an update guys...

im lookin at a white vx calais this thursday, its got 18" vyss, lowered by pedders, pacy's with catback, 5.7L v8 :P, 114,000kms, looks very clean from photos, 40 yr old owns it so its been looked afta, well hopefully... i'll let u guys know thursday wots gonna happen... he wants $14,500 for it

oh n does any 1 know how much it will cost to get an inspection from RAA ??? want to get 1 done
