    Question Strut brace clearance??

    Hey guys,
I wanna buy a strut brace for my clubby soon, just wanna know if anyone has this one.
Its a nolathane evolution strut brace, polished alloy adjustable.

Basically all i want to know, is will it fit 100% no worries, with the standard engine covers on?

Just wanna know because i have heard of some strut braces not fitting because of covers or even rub on the bonnet slightly.

    Cheers guys,
    Geoff

the nolathane ones fit perfectly in the bay. they sit up closer to the bonnet to give the engine covers more clearance when the engine moves.
ive fitted 2 at work to cars and they ahvent come back with any problems so its pretty safe to say that they are ok to use

Ok thanks mate, i figured they would be alright considering its a reputable brand, and not just a cheapo ebay one.
Can also get one quite cheap through the new job

On the topic of strut braces, are they even worth the money? I can see them getting in the road when your trying to get to your dizzy.

The short answer is no. They will have very minimal if any effect on a street car. The theory behind them is 100% valid however as these are bent items much strength is lost as they will flex along with the body of the car. To do the job properly the bar either needs to be straight (not going to happen as there is an engine in the way) or be triangulated back to the fire wall (The best answer but is not all that practical for a street car).

i'm going to disagree, they do work, even holden fitted then to later model commodores. would have very little noticable effect on a stock standard car, there is that much movement in the suspension you wouldn't really notice it. probably work better on lowered cars with firmer suspension. i have one and i think it improves turn in, will let you know in a couple of weeks when she's running around on superlows. as reaper said however, the V6 style ones that go straight across the engine bay are better but not possible on all cars

mine is lowered on supers with nolathane bushes all round, stiff as you like (will be better when i get my fully blade adj. double sways) the brace helps... makes a differnce... mines a 6 so its straight across. Totally worth it!

From a guy in Holden engineering - They were put there because of the marketing department. A complete and utter waste of time on late model Commodores as well.

yeh i'm not sure how much they work or what they do entirely besides stiffening the front suspension a tiny bit more, we have them at work on the brand new honda legends, they've been put there for a purpose not for looks as its a luxury car not a performance car and alot of ppl that own them don't look at these things, but saying that we don't have them on the performance cars like the s2000's and the new civic type R, was thinking bout one for my vy ss, but not sure now.

Well just installed it and took the clubby for a bit of a fang.
It did feel a bit sharper/firmer when cornering heavy, felt like it had more direction and what not.
As for normal driving wouldnt know the difference.
Cant wait to take it for a run up authers seat and see how it goes

Damn that's alright.....it took a few months for Repco to get mine in coz apparently RedRanger had to make a new batch up....that was for my VK. My bro works there so the staff price + buy in fee still come out cheaper then anywhere else, bout $130 I rekon it turned out to be. I didn't need it in a hurry so it didn't bother me that much that I had to wait for 2-3 months

A lot of their staff prices are good, retail prices are mostly a rip off tho lol.

You'll never notice a strut brace driving around town/through the suburbs. I bought a Whiteline strut brace and it's definitely noticeable through the hills (which is where I live) but I would never be able to notice it in town. If I lived in town, I wouldnt bother getting one because theres not enough gain.
